Bert Moritz McDade Jr. was born at Crawford Long Hospital in Atlanta to Bert Moritz McDade Sr. and Lucille Ellis McDade on November 2, 1949. Bert attended Campbell High School in Fairburn, GA and graduated in1967. He got his undergraduate degree in English at West Georgia and then continued on to obtain a Masters of Divinity at Candler School of Theology at Emory University. Bert was a Methodist minister for 9 years. His first church was Ebenezer UMC in Fayetteville and he was the founding minister of Peachtree City United Methodist Church. After leaving the ministry in 1980 he began a lifelong career in insurance sales. . Even though Bert formally left the ministry in 1980 he was always active in both youth and adult ministry and often taught his Sunday School class. On August 14, 1982 he married the love of his life, Mary Louise Tucker and they shared 37 years of loving marriage that included 4 children, 6 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild. Bert loved sports, especially Georgia Tech Football and the Atlanta Braves. Bert played softball his whole life and had recently become very involved in the neighborhood Pickleball group. Bert is survived by his wife, Mary Louise McDade (Tucker); Children: Matthew Bryan McDade (spouse Jennifer McDade), Amanda McDade Dixon, Sarah McDade Morgan (spouse Robert Morgan), Katie McDade Bruner (Seth Bruner); Grandchildren: Mason Taylor Hallman, Brantley Emerson Dixon, Tucker Griffin Morgan, Cooper Ellis Morgan, Finlay James McDade, Jacoby Michael Bruner; Mother, Lucille Ellis McDade; Siblings: Diane McDade Timmons (spouse Tim Timmons), Jane McDade Harper (spouse Louis Harper), James Lee McDade (spouse Charlene McDade), Elsie Jean McDade (spouse Cliff Phelps), and William Julian McDade. Bert is preceded in death by his father, Bert Moritz McDade Sr. and his sister Susan McDade Crisci. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, November 8, 2019 at Lawrenceville First United Methodist Church.     With tears rolling down my cheeks, I write this. We are shocked and incredibly devastated to hear about Bert. Such a wonderful family man. We will always remember his awesome personality, his kind heart, his loving nature and, of course, the great softball player/teammate he was. We send you our heartfelt sympathy and much love.     I would go to his house and play with all his siblings. As an only child I thought he was so lucky to have brothers and sisters.

  27. I am so sorry for your loss. Bert was an amazing person. He was a friend to everyone. After my school (Auburn) won the National Championship in 2011, Bert invited me to lunch one day and gave me a gift to commemorate that event. He didn’t have to do that, but he was that kind of friend. I will miss him emmencely.

  42. Barbara and I learned of Berts passing in church this morning at Peachtree City UMC. He was always ready to work and have a good time with his friends at St.timothy’s.Bert spoke at Wilton Moulders services not too long ago. He hadn’t changed even a little bit. He will be missed froever,

  43. We were so very sorry to hear about your loss. We knew Bert when we were all in our early thirties. He had such a good sense of humor and was always fun to be around. Your family is in our prayers.

  44. I was greatly saddened to hear about Bert. He and I went to high school together and I remember him to be incredibly kind, with a way of making you laugh. My heart breaks for Mary Louise as she has not only lost her husband and best friend but her mom as well. I pray God walks her through this horrific time and holds her close as she journeys through the grieving process. I pray her family holds on to the wonderful memories they have and those memories will forever keep Bert alive in their hearts.
