Beverly Anne Bliss Boyd passed away peacefully on November 18, 2018 in Lawrenceville, Georgia after recently celebrating her 85th birthday on October 11th. Beverly is preceded in death by her parents and her husband Theodore Hitchko Boyd. Beverly was the proud and devoted mother of her three children: Sandra Boyd Mills, Christine Boyd Schumacher, and David Alexander Boyd, Ph.D. Beverly was born and raised in Wantagh, New York. Upon graduating from high school, Beverly followed her high school sweetheart, Theodore "Ted" Boyd to Yankton, South Dakota to attend Yankton College. In 1953 Beverly and Ted were married. Ted was drafted into the United States Army soon after his graduation, and the newlyweds were stationed in Tacoma, Washington. Beverly gave birth to their first daughter Sandra "Sandy" in 1955. Upon Ted's discharge, the family moved to South Florida, and the couple's second daughter, Christine, arrived in 1958. The family then moved to Jacksonville, Florida, and welcomed the birth of their son, David, in 1967. In 1969, the family moved to Birmingham, AL and finally to Lawrenceville, GA in 1987, where Bev had lived ever since. Beverly enjoyed many years as a very active member of her churches: Vestavia Hills Lutheran Church, Birmingham, AL and Oak Road Lutheran Church, Lilburn, GA. Beverly spent countless hours volunteering at church and performing outreach, including Meals on Wheels, Lutheran Braille ministries, and visiting nursing homes. She also hosted a weekly women's bible study at her home in Lawrenceville. Beverly loved her church family dearly and was a truly loyal friend. Beverly was a consummate home maker. She took great pride in her children and home. She loved to bake for the family, and the family favorites included Christmas cookies, her famous English muffins, and even dog biscuits. She enjoyed passing her baking knowledge on to the next generations. Beverly was a particularly skilled seamstress and could make just about anything. For example, she would knit custom afghan blankets for her children and grandchildren as well as warm sweaters for cold orphans in Africa. Beverly enjoyed gardening especially tending to her prize roses. Beverly doted on her dogs all of whom lived enviable lives. Beverly and Ted loved the water and purchased a home on Lake Martin in Alabama. The couple enjoyed many wonderful years with family and friends there. Beverly is survived by three children: daughters Sandra "Sandy" Boyd Mills (Sam Mills), Groveland, FL, Christine "Chris" Boyd Schumacher, Lawrenceville, GA and son David Alexander Boyd (Liz Miura Boyd), La Cañada Flintridge, CA; five grandchildren: Brantley Lindquist Prince (Eric Prince), Theodore Ryan Schumacher, Casey Ann Schumacher, William Cameron Augustus Boyd, and Alexandra "Lexi" Catherine Boyd; and two greatgrandchildren: Hazel Ann Prince and Henry "Hank" Prince. Wages & Son Funeral Home, Lawrenceville, GA, is handling the arrangements and there will be a Celebration of Beverly's Life at her beloved Lake Martin at a future date.

  1. Beverly certainly was a very special lady who loved our Lord. We were blessed to meet her in Birmingham, Al at our church there. She moved to Ga. about 6 years before we did and introduced us to our church here. Our family enjoyed going to the lake house. You’re home now Beverly. Praise the Lord. The Unger family

  2. Bev, you and Ted welcomed me into your family and I will always cherish the wonderful family memories we shared together over the years. You are missed.
