December 3, 1960 ~ December 8, 2017

Born in: Nashville, TN
Resided in: Buford, GA

It is with great sadness that the family of Tamela Epps Levi announces she was called up to heaven on Friday the 8th of December, 5 days after her 57th birthday & just two short years since her diagnosis. Tammy was born in Nashville, TN on December 3, 1960 but spent most of her life in Georgia and the last 11 years in Buford, near her beloved Lake Lanier. The lake was her happy place and she spent as much time as possible on it or in it. Tammy loved to travel and thankfully got to see a lot of the world with her favorite spot being Australia and second favorite being the British Virgin Islands. She loved the water, boating, & dancing the night away with her friends. She was beautiful inside and out, never met a stranger, and always lived by the motto Live, Laugh, Love. She loved her family and friends and if there was a party she wanted to be in the middle of it. Tammy spent a lot of her career in the banking industry and the last 6 years with Resurgens Bank, where her many talents were put to use amongst the tight knit group of employees. Tammy spent most of her life in Georgia rooting for the Bulldogs, but after spending some time at Texas A&M games, she became an Aggie at heart. Tammy is survived by her mother Christine Epps, her brothers Tony & wife Linda Gower and Tyler & wife Diane Gower, sister Tina Fawbush, niece Amber Fawbush, and her loving husband Tony Burgess. She was preceded in death by her father William Herbert Epps, nephew Ricky Fawbush and her Brother-in-law Rick Fawbush. She is leaving a hole in the hearts of everyone that knew her. God has our angel now and she is without pain and resting in peace. A visitation will be held at Wages & Sons funeral home at 1031 Lawrenceville Hwy in Lawrenceville, GA on Saturday, 12-16 from 2-4 PM followed immediately by a memorial service. In lieu of flowers please donate to St. Jude Children’s Hospital (childhood cancer) in her honor.

Guestbook

  1. No one has fought a better fight than Tammy while battling a very serious and unrelenting illness. Her positive attitude, constant smile and sense humor was admired by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. For me, in addition to being a good friend, she served as a role model that helped me through a difficult time. God bless her and Tony.

  2. My sweet friend, your tiered body has gone now, but your precious smile, your infectious laugh, and your joy to live will always remain in my heart. You were there when I needed you most; I like many, idealized you! You were, and will always be a great role model! Thank you.

  3. Tammy was truly an inspiration to all who knew her. She had a very upbeat and positive attitude. She will be greatly missed. Love to her family and friends.

  4. Tammy battled harder than anyone I have ever known. She and Tony sought out the best of care, and no matter what the next step turned out to be, Tammy faced it with enthusiasm, optimism, and hope. She had a vivacious personality that was contagious. She could light up a room with her smile and energy. Our Love and Prayers for comfort go out to Tony and Tammy’s sister.

  5. I am blessed that I had the honor to meet this beautiful, caring lady. I am honored to call her a friend. Tammy never met a stranger and always had a smile on her face. She loved her jewelry and I am sure she has extra “bling” on her wings.

Until we meet again my friend, I will cherish the memories we made. Praying for Tony and her family

  6. Tammy, I will never have a friend like you. You had so much courage and was such a strong wonderful friend. I will miss you and you always telling me to “have fun girlfriend”. Praying for Tony and your family.

  7. I worked with Tammy at Atlantic States Bank and we both went through some hard times together. We remained friends over the years and got together occasionally. She was always happy even when life threw her curve balls. She was there for me and I wish I could have been there for her in this trying time. She will remain with me always.

My prayer is for Tony and her family to find peace that passes understanding.

  8. Seems the sun isn’t shining nearly as bright, the winds a little colder and the mood is a little less optimistic without you around, To a sweet woman who I was blessed to call a friend, was an inspiration, and always a bright spot in every day! We’ll miss you and we are praying for Tony and the rest of your family and friends,

  12. Our family is saddend to hear the news of our C Dock Friend. Tammy was always so spunky and full of life and happiness. I was always impressed how she backed her boat into her slip without bumping the dock (at least when we were around). She will truly be missed. Deepest condolences.

  16. My deepest sympathies to Toni & Tammy’s family. There was no one else like her and she could always light up a room. She is now free from the long battle (which she fought with grace) and suffering. Her big heart & soul will always be with us.

  17. Around 18 years ago I moved to Atlanta to work for a small bank in Norcross i.e. Atlantic States Bank. There I met Tammy! She was the always the heart of the bank. Everyone loved her and she made everyone feel special. She was an amazing lady! We had stayed in touch throughout the years and I will forever be thankful that our paths crossed. Although I am sad, I am going to hold on to all those great memories we had together. Loved you then…love you now…will see you again someday my sweet friend!

  18. Sorry for the lost of your dear loved one. Surely she will be missed by all family and friends. May you find comfort in God’s word and promises. Rev 21:3-5

  19. Tammy was an inspiring person no matter where she went or who she talked to. Her love for life and adventure was tremendously addictive. Tara and I pray for her, Tony and her family. We will greatly miss her. We know she is brightening heaven with her energy.

  20. My deepest sympathy goes to Tami’s family, her husband, and all her friends. I’m so sad that such a lovely and lively lady is no longer in our lives. I first met Tami when I worked for the Lake Lanier Association, when she served several years on the association’s board of directors. Tami loved to help and was always ready to help out at events. For two years, at her suggestion, she and I cooked meals in her kitchen for 100 people to serve the attendees at the association’s annual membership meetings. From sorting Shore Sweep t-shirts for the various drop off areas to manning one of those stations, Tammy was fully involved in that event. She was full of life and kindness and enjoyed helping with any event related to the lake.
I have not seen Tami since we moved away in 2010 and now live in Florida. I share in your sadness, and know that I will never forget Tami and her zest for life.

  21. Tammy,
You will be so greatly missed . You were the glue that held us all together. You never had an unkind word to say .

    Tony,
Blair and I have had great times with you and Tammy over the years. Great times on the lake and great times in Jamaica. You and Tammy were always there for us, Let us know if there’s anything that we can do for you. With great respect and love for you,
    Carol and Blair Anderson

  22. Tammy’s warm and bright smile is indelibly imprinted in my mind. Her brave and positive attitude in confronting her illness was amazing and inspirational. I’m glad her pain is over and sending caring thoughts to Tony and everyone else who obviously loved her so very much.

  23. I had the pleasure of meeting Tammy a few years ago at Resurgeons back while visiting my friend Heather. Its true that Tammy never met a stranger and I liked her immediately. While chit chatting she told Heather and I a funny story about her Mom and a trip they made to a “store”. I am not sure I ever laughed so hard in my life! I am very sad to hear of her passing – may Tammy rest in peace. My heart goes out to her many many adoring fans and loved ones. Carla

  24. I had the pleasure of meeting Tammy through friends at the lake. She was a strong and loving soul and I truly thought she would beat this. My heart goes out to all who loved her as her time with us was cut too short. She will be greatly missed.

  25. I moved to Georgia just about 15 years ago and at that time, I rented a boat slip at Holiday Marina on Lake Lanier. The friendships formed there on the dock, were lasting and are still strong today and that is where my friendship started with Tammy Levi. Over the years and many adventures later, that friendship meant the world to me. Just last summer as we carried out one of our many overnight tie ups on the Lake, this wonderful group of friends enjoyed great food, drink and each other’s company with lots of love and laughs. We will all miss you so much, your kindness knew no bounds. My thoughts and prayers are with Tony and her family.

  26. We will always remember Tammy with the biggest smile on her face, she will be missed dearly. Sending prayers for Tony and her family.

  27. Our since condolences go out to Tony Burgess and the entire family. We were saddened and left with heavy hearts after hearing the tragic news. I had not seen Tammy since she and Tony were in San Antonio, Texas for a few hours before catching a flight. Tony is family to me and as such, so is Tammy. She will be missed. Godspeed. Tom & Adriana

  28. I knew Tammy for 14 years, from the hay days of C dock to her dreams of retirement on the beach. Tammy and I were close thru some of the best times of my life, everything from dock parties to Caribbean sailing vacations. For many years our C dock group was like a family, we did everything together and made tons amazing memories. Over the years people began to go their separate ways, but we always remained friends. As Tammy bravely battled cancer I brought her close again and did what I could to help her keep up the fight, but it was not enough. As sad as it is, it’s times likes these that make you reflect and count your blessing, and one of mine for sure was to have shared all the good times I did with Tammy. Oh how I wish we could do it all over again. Thank you for being my friend Tammy Levi, I miss you and I love you ❤️

  29. Tammy, thank you for being the sunshine in every room. Now you are the sparkle in the sky. Like your smile, the heavens are brighter… Love you and miss you but we will cross paths again one day!

  30. Our dear girl has gone to a better place. Gerri and I have known Tammy for three decades. In all that time I can honestly say I have never met anyone who did not love her. Gerri and Tammy have been best friends for all the years we have known her. To lose her is like losing one of our family. Our heart goes out to Tony, her family and friends. Let us not dwell on her lose, but celebrate and pass forward her loving spirit that has touched us all.

  31. Tammy was a very special human being, I admired how she lived her life out loud. I use to always tell her Tammy, I want to be like you when I grow up. I always looked forward to hearing her voice at work, she would walked in back of bank and say with her amazing southern accent “What’s up girlfriends”! Her tenacious spirit and courage displayed while she was going through cancer was something inspiring. Even though she was having her challenges she would frequently ask about my Nephew who was also battling cancer. She was kind and considerate, and she will be missed.
My prayers go out to Tony and Tammy’s family.
The angels in heaven are welcoming her with “What’s up girlfriend”!

  32. Tammy was a special person, always with a smile and always a great listener. I knew Tammy through Resurgens Bank. At the Bank her cheerfulness and energy were infectious and she was always helpful. Tammy will always be with me as an inspiration. During her illness she remained cheerful and helpful, you would not know she did not feel well, unless you asked. Tammy has been in my prayers and while I am happy her ordeal is over, I will miss her.

  33. Tammy, you are sunshine, smiles, energy and love. Always, you had kind words, fun plans, and positive energy to share with all. You took care of business, embraced fun adventures, and loved with all your might. Nonjudgmental, accepting of everyone, you will forever remain in my heart. I picture you always at the helm of a yacht, driving us through the Virgin Islands, with a smile, and taking care of business. My heart is heavy that you are no longer with us in body. I will forever embrace your love of life. You will be in our hearts forever! We celebrate your spirit. All my love,
    Stephanie

  34. I met Tammy at Mercer gym years ago, boy could she light up a room with her smile and laughter. She made the exercises classes go by fast. She will be missed by all her gym buddies. Thoughts and prayers to Tony and family.

  35. It was our honor to share special memories with Tammy and to have her as part of our family for so long. You will be missed!

  36. I am so much better to have been around Tammy!! I Loved her and will always think of her amazing energy and organization. I am here for you Tony if you need anything and hope you will invite me to the celebration of life at the lake. Praying for all of her friends and family that are missing that piece of beauty in their lives today.
