Arthur Vernon Alligood, age 80, of Lawrenceville passed away January 23, 2013. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ettie R. Alligood; son Michael Alligood and wife, Andrea; daughter Sheila McDonald and husband, Tryggvi; grandsons, Wade, Chad, Graham Alligood, and Pierce and Dylan McDonald; brothers, Jessie, Curtis, Johnny, Larry Alligood; and sisters, Emily Murphy and Annette Saul. Vernon retired from the U.S. Army after serving for 20 years with two tours of duty in Vietnam. After military retirement he worked for 23 years as a Purchasing Agent for Central Metals Recycling. A service to celebrate Vernon's life will be held Monday, January 28, 2013 at 11:00 at Parkway Baptist Church in Duluth, Georgia. Burial will be at 2:30 at the National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia. In lieu of flowers please make donations in Vernon's memory to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America. Arrangements by Wages & Sons Gwinnett Chapel, 770-277-4550. So very Sorry for your loss..We will always remember him and the wonderful job he did in his beautiful yard, that still blooms today.
