Annie Elizabeth Couch Hewatt, age 95 of Loganville, formerly of Stone Mountain, died on September 20, 2016. She was preceeded in death by the love of her life and spouse of 70 years, Sam Hewatt, her parents, a sister and brother, and Luke Malone, a great grandson. She is survived by daughters, Nancy Hewatt Collins and husband Roy, Stone Mountain; Mary Ellen Hewatt Malone and Husband Marty, Loganville; grandchildren, Tracy and Kimberly Cumbie, of Stone Mountain; Roy and Kelly Collins, Monroe; Jeff and Carrie Collins, Monroe; Scott and Melissa Malone, Carrollton, TX; Brad Malone, Atlanta; great grandchildren, Callie and Tyler Collins, Monroe; Sam and Eli Cumbie, Stone Mountain; Hyder Collins, Monroe; JW Malone, Carrollton, TX; numerous nieces and nephews. Elizabeth was a sweet women who loved her family. She also loved “her mountain” and her many friends and Sunday school class at Stone Mountain First Baptist Church. She worked alongside her husband at his business, Hewatt’s Supermarket, located in downtown Stone Mountain for many years. Elizabeth was known as “Mama” to her daughters and all of her grandchildren called her Grandmother Elizabeth. The members of her family are especially grateful for her faithful caregivers, Helen, Dusty and Martha. Their sweet name for her was “Mom”. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 24 at Wages & Sons Stone Mountain Chapel at 11:00am with Dr. Dan Parker and Rev. Ken Magness officiating. Burial will be at Snellville Historical Cemetery. The family will receive friends September 23 from 5-8pm at Wages & Sons Stone Mountain 770-469-9811.

  1. Nancy & Mary Ellen, I am so sorry about your sweet Mom. I know you will miss her but she is where is wants to be and that is with Sam. You have some great memories and you just have to hold onto those. You had 2 great parents that not only loved the 2 of you but they loved everybody. My Mom and Dad, Jude & Mildred Johnson, thought the world of them. Sam would let Daddy work at the store when General Motors went on strike and he loved it. All of you are in my thoughts & prayers.

  4. Mary, I’m so sorry to hear of your mother’s passing. From what I can tell, she had a long life with lots of loved ones around her. Even at 95, I’m not sure we’re ready for them to leave us. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

  10. The memories of your sweet momma and daddy are limitless across the years that she and Sam were friends with my parents Howard and Vivian Moon. So many adventures and so many get together events but none as great as the reunion going on in Heaven today with Montine and JB, Bob, Gene, Doc, Helen and a host of others that were so close while here and now there. Loved them all and miss them all. Our prayers and love are certainly with you during this time.
