Betty Mahone Buckner, of Decatur, died December 13,2020 at the age of 91. She was born May 17, 1929 to the late Eunice Muldrew Mahone and Thomas F Mahone. An Atlanta native, she was in the final graduating class of Atlanta Girls High in 1947 and then went to UGA where she was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority.
She is survived by her husband James K Buckner and their children: Laura Buckner, Jim (Lucy) Buckner and Patty (David) Moore, and twenty grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was very devoted to her family and will be missed by all.
Betty taught kindergarten at Clairmont Hills Baptist Church and was the original director at Briarlake Baptist Kindergarten. For 39 years she was a real estate agent, primarily with Northside Realty in Atlanta.
The family will be having a private memorial service at her home.
Although Betty loved flowers and working in her garden, in lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to a favorite charity.

I knew Betty through the KD Alumni Group and Red Hats. She was a great lady and fun to be with. She will be missed but as we all know she is in the place we all look forward to.
