The name Carol is of French origin and has the meaning “Song of Joy.” The spiritual connotation is “Joy of God.” Carol Frye was truly a joy to her family and friends. Her presence brought happiness and comfort to the lives of the people she touched. John 15:11 states, These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. The blessing of Carol upon this earth, was truly God’s joy being spoken to those she loved. Her life was a joy that will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Carol Frye of Lawrenceville, GA passed away on Thursday August 29th. She was preceded in death by her husband Lynell Frye, father Robert Reese and brother David Reese. Carol was born on October 8th, 1958 at General Hospital in Cincinnati, Oh. After graduating from Aiken High in 1976, Carol began a career as a hospital transportation dispatcher. She later returned to school and received her associate degree in accounting. In 1993, Carol moved to Georgia to pursue her dream of becoming an accountant, but instead found a new career in law enforcement that she loved. She worked as a juvenile correctional officer at the Gwinnett, Rockdale, and Atlanta RYDC for over 20 years. She also worked as a jailer for the city of Doraville. Carol is deeply loved by her family who will dearly miss her joyous demeanor, quick wit, and wisdom. She was quick with a laugh and seemed to always have a “Color Purple” reference to sum up any situation. She is survived by her mother Roberta Reese; sisters Emma Carter and Vivian Reese-Whitmire; Daughters Michelle (Shawn) Fields, Yolanda Renee (Eric) Letman, and LaTosha (Nick) Stringer; five grand-children; Shante Thompkins, Shameka Metcalf, Shamya Metcalf, Shanzie Johnson Jr and Noah Stringer; two great-grandson Fonte Williams and Donte Metcalf; one niece, Trina Anderson; one nephew, Justin Reese, as well as a brother-in-law David Frye in addition to many dear extended family members and friends. It is indeed an honor that you have entrusted me for the service of such a Great Woman of God. Ms. Frye was a awesome & faithful member of St. Peters True Holiness Church. Take comfort and know that their is no more pain because she’s with Jesus.
