David Wayne Pangle

Retired USAF MSgt David W. Pangle, 71, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 27, 2025, at Garden Plaza in Lawrenceville, GA.

David was born on December 5, 1953, at Eglin Air Force Base, FL, to Col. Herbert W. and Lavada L. Pangle. He was preceded in death by his parents and his youngest brother, Staff Sgt. Kenneth R. Pangle, USAF.

He is lovingly remembered by his brothers, Gary W. Pangle (Debbie) of Crestview, FL, and Steve Pangle (Marsha) of Hampton, VA; his sons, Chris Pangle (Kelley) of Dacula, GA, Jeremy Pangle (Yas) of New York, NY, and Keith Pangle of Miami, FL; and his former wife, Carol Pangle of Dacula, GA. David also leaves behind four cherished grandchildren—Rayleigh, Collyns, Beckett, and Ezra Pangle—who were the light of his life.

The son of an Air Force officer, David experienced life in many places across the United States and Europe. As a child, he lived in Crestview, FL; Wiesbaden, Germany; Crane, IN; Prattville, AL; Universal City, TX; and Annandale, VA. During high school, David was a standout football player at Samuel Clemens High School in Schertz, TX, proudly representing the Buffaloes. He later graduated from W.T. Woodson High School in 1972 before enlisting in the United States Air Force (USAF).

Following in his father’s footsteps, David joined the USAF in 1976 and dedicated 24 years to selfless service in the medical field as an X-ray technician, rising to the rank of Master Sergeant. His career took him to bases around the world, including Wright-Patterson AFB (OH), Luke AFB (AZ), Eglin AFB (FL), Howard AFB (Panama), Tinker AFB (OK), Bitburg AFB (Germany), and Patrick AFB (FL). In 1992, he deployed to Turkey in support of Desert Storm and Operation Provide Comfort. David retired in 2000 with honor and pride.

In recent years, David made his home at the Garden Plaza independent living facility, where he became a beloved member of the community. Admired by both residents and staff, he was elected to the resident council, reflecting the leadership and kindness that came so naturally to him. His quick wit, warm smile, and caring nature made him a favorite companion at the dining table and a cherished friend to many.

David had a lifelong love of football and was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Florida State Seminoles. Yet more than any pastime, his greatest joy came from being with his grandchildren—watching them grow, celebrating their milestones, and cheering them on in all they did.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 25, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Beal Memorial Cemetery, Fort Walton Beach, FL, with Matt Wunderlich officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow.
David was a loving brother, father, and grandfather. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
