Frances Wallace Pittard, age 77, of Tucker and most recently Lawrenceville, passed away Tuesday evening, December 23 at her assisted living home, at Delmar Gardens.She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, John Thomas Pittard, and by her grandson, Jacob Thomas Roach, at age 5. She is survived by her daughter, Lynn Poole Banks (and Russell) of Lawrenceville, GA., Dr. Joel C Pittard of Auburn, AL, Mrs. Beverly (James) Stone of Suwanee, GA. Her grandchildren, Justin Arthur Roach, Jesse Wallace Roach, James Edwin Stone, John Bradley Stone, John Boyd (Jeb) Pittard, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs Pittrd was a graduate of Cherokee Co High School and a long time member of Lawrenceville Road United Methodist Church. She was in business partnership with her husband in the late 1960s and 1970s owning a radio station, WSNE in Cumming, GA and two record stores, The Record World, in Cumming and in Tucker. They attended several Country Music Award shows in Nashville during this time. She was later employed by and retired from the State of GA in the Department of Agriculture and Governors Office of Highway Safety. She enjoyed her family, gardening, cooking and preserving of foods. She was charitable-always helping neighbors family and friends-in times of illness and other difficult times. Many cards were sent by her-birthdays and holidays were not forgotten. She was greatly loved and will be very much missed. A memorial service will be held Sunday, December 28 at 2 pm at Wages and Sons funeral home, 1040 Main Street, Stone Mountain, GA 30086, 770-469-9811. Visitation to start at 12:30pm. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Shepherds Hill Academy, 2200 Price Road, Martin, GA 30557 or to Crossroads Hospice.

  1. Lynn, I am so sory to hear of your mom’s passing. I know how dedicated you were to her especially over these last years as her health has declined. She was so lucky to have you as her daughter! I hope you have very happy memories of time spent with your mom!

  2. I met your mother at Delmar over a year ago when my mom became a resident. Your mother was so kind and went out of her way to help my mother adjust to assisted living. They shared their meals together in the dining room. It was tough going in the beginning but your mother kept saying it will get better, it just takes time. She was right! I got to know Frances and had some great conversations through out the year with her. She was a kind, beautiful & gracious person. Delmar Gardens just won’t be the same. She will be greatly missed.. My mother, sister and I send our deepest condolences.
