Patricia T. Hetzler of Atlanta, GA passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2010. Pat was a lifelong professional artist and art teacher in Chattanooga, TN and then Atlanta, GA. Among her many professional accomplishments is having her work recognized by, and her papers included, in Vanderbilt Special Collections. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Dr. Morris C. Hetzler; son and daughter-in-law Jack and Miriam Hetzler father, Damian Mestre and daughter Sarah Hetzler; brother-in-law SGM Walter M. Hetzler and his wife Lynda Hetzler; her beloved grandchildren Justin and Abigail Hetzler; nephews Michael and Lonnie; nieces Lesley and Noemi; as well as many cousins whom she loved dearly. Friends and family will gather to celebrate her life on Sunday, September 19th from 5-7pm at the Spruill Arts Center Education Center on Chamblee Dunwoody Rd in Atlanta, GA in the courtyard by the library. Dear Morris: Al and I are in deep sorrow over the loss of our friend Pat, and extend our sincere condolences to you and all the family.
Pat taught me hand papermaking at a Callanwolde class in 1989. She covered many techniques in the short class time. She always remembered me, even if we did not cross paths for several years. I loved her art and enthusiasm for teaching and learning. She was a talented and very giving artist. I will truly miss her. She was a great influence on my artistic pursuits.
