Lena Lee Irene Tolley King, 84, of Stone Mountain, Georgia died peacefully in her sleep at home with family present. She was born in Princeton, North Carolina in 1928, the daughter of John Tolley, Sr. and Flossie Lancaster Tolley. After a happy childhood with summers on family farms in eastern North Carolina, Lee enlisted in the Air Force in 1952. She married fellow serviceman Harry W. King in 1953, and gave birth to two of her three sons, Gary and Mark, while at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida. A third son, Kevin was born in Phalsbourg, France. Lee moved with her husband and family to assignments in San Antonio, Texas; Valdosta, Georgia and Tuscaloosa, Alabama before settling in Stone Mountain, Georgia in 1995. She was married 38 years before her husband's death. She was devoted to her much beloved family, including 3 sons and daughters-in-law, 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She was active in various church and community organizations, a committed wife and mother, friend to everyone, and an accomplished homemaker and cook. She leaves her sons and their families - Gary M. King of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Mark S. King of Stonington, Connecticutt; Kevin T. King of Stone Mountain, Georgia - and her sister Iris Basinger of Salisbury, North Carolina and brother John Tolley, Jr. of Rockwell, North Carolina and their families. Memorial Services will be held Thursday 4 p.m. March 14, 2013 from the St. Michaels and All Angels Episcopal Church. Interment will occur with her husband in the Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, North Carolina, on Friday 2 p.m. March 15, 2013, with military honors provided by the United States Airforce. Wages and Sons, Stone Mountain is handling funeral arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the American Red Cross or the Memorial Fund of St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, Stone Mountain, GA 30083.
