April 22, 1937 ~ May 11, 2023

Born in: Duncan, Oklahoma
Resided in: Stone Mountain, Georgia

Linda Rose Cavner Foster went to live forever with Jesus on Thursday, May 11, 2023. Mercifully, the Lord took her into His presence quickly and unexpectedly as she lay in bed. After 86 years of life and many years of faithful service, she has joined the saints who from their labors rest.

Linda was born on April 22, 1937. She lived in Duncan, Oklahoma; Tucson, Arizona; Greenville, South Carolina; Norcross, Georgia and Stone Mountain, Georgia.

She was the daughter of James K. Cavner and Nettie Edward Taylor. Linda graduated from Tucson High School in 1955 and with a degree in Christian Education from Bob Jones University in 1960. In addition to her many family roles, Linda was a bus driver and then an elementary school teacher at Stone Mountain Christian School. In the latter years of her teaching ministry she became a certified NILD educational therapist and helped many students with learning disabilities learn more successfully.

One of her delights was to travel with her husband. She visited all 50 states and many foreign countries. She especially found joy in spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and was an avid Braves fan. She also faithfully read her Bible, prayed, served many years teaching Sunday school, served as an AWANA leader, and enjoyed fellowship with her church family. Whatever she did, she did all to the glory of God (I Corinthians 10:31).

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Roger; by her children (and their spouses), Jeff (Joanna), Dena (Wayne), and Tim (Laura); by her grandchildren (and their spouses), Janae, Jillian (Tim), Jessica (Dan), Jamie, Westin (Kelly), Devan, Ella and Cavner; and her 7 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Paul and his wife, Lita.

There will be a visitation at 1 pm and a service in memory of her earthly life at 2 pm at Calvary Baptist Church, 6320 Sandy Creek Rd, Loganville, GA.

“Her children rise up and bless her; Her husband also, and he praises her, saying:
‘Many daughters have done nobly,
But you excel them all.’
Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain,
But a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.
Give her the product of her hands,
And let her works praise her in the gates.”
Proverbs 31:28-31

In lieu of flowers please send donations to the missions program of Calvary Baptist Church, Loganville, Ga.

  1. CandleImageMuch love, peace, and comfort to everyone in the family….our hearts are with you ♥️

  2. Linda, now with Jesus, has a special place in our hearts. She’ll be remembered for her gracious spirit, humility, and kindness(es). Joy and I are her friends, we’ll miss her for a short time, and then spend eternity together sharing memories. God bless Jeff, Dena, and Tim during this loss, and so happy the Lord saw fit to take her so peacefully.

  3. CandleImageLinda was always so sweet and kind, especially when I first started working at Stone Mountain Christian School. She was just filled with love. My prayers are with you all. Roger, Jeff, Dena, and Tim. We are praying for all of you!
    Love,
    Ron and Denise Vandermey

  4. We will never forget meeting Roger, Linda, Jeff, and Dena at MMHP in Norcross in June1964. Linda came to meet us bringing a pitcher of ice cold water with her to refresh us as our refrigerator was not yet turned on. We enjoyed going to church with them in the beginning days of Hawthorne Baptist Church. We have remained friends since then.

We are praying for all of the family. May God bless all of you, Roger, Jeff, Dena, and Tim at this time. Love and prayers, Bill and Glenda Fancher

  5. CandleImageHappy Mother’s Day to your mom in Heaven, Dena! I remember meeting her at some of the CCA functions and she was always such a sweet person to be around. I’m praying for you, your dad and all of your family today & every day until you get to see her again in Heaven ❤️????❤️

  6. Our deepest ???? sympathies. Rembering Linda from our SMBT days, and since we all live in Stone Mountain we have seen Roger and Linda from time to time throughout the years.
