Retha McIntyre Merck, age, age 74, of Snellville, Georgia passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Merck, and son Dennis Paul Merck. She is survived by sons, Darren Merck and wife Laverne of Loganville, GA; Brian Merck and wife Tracy of Las Vegas, NV; brother, Floyd McIntyre of Cumming, GA; sisters, Bonnie Kendrick and Pat Farmer of Toccoa, GA; and six grandchildren. Mrs. Merck was a 1954 graduate of Stephens County High School, and retired from the Gwinnett County School System in food service. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 8, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at Wages & Sons Stone Mountain Chapel with Rev. Tim Griffin and Rev. Andre Willis officiating. Interment will follow in the Melwood Cemetery in Stone Mountain. The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 7, 2011 after 2:00 P.M. at Wages & Sons Stone Mountain Chapel 770 469-9811.

I am so sorry for your loss. Your mother was always kind to me and Stephanie when we lived next door to each other. She was a very good neighbor and looked out for Stephanie after school until I got home from work. We used to sit and talk for hours at a time. It’s sad when you move away and lose contact with each other. I would love to see you. If I don’t make it there for the service please know that your in my prayers.

Brian and Darrin, I am very sorry for your loss. Your mother was a very fine southern lady. I was honored to know her and your family. The world is a lesser place without her. I will miss her.
I just read about Retha’s passing. I am so sorry for your loss. She was a wonderful person and a very pretty lady. My Family & the Merck Family were friends for many many years. I know she will truly be missed.
