April 27, 1952 ~ May 26, 2023

Born in: Miami, Florida
Resided in: Lawrenceville, Georgia

Gary began his new adventure on May 26, 2023 after a very brief illness.

Gary was a very private person and very shy. If you were invited into his life, either as a friend or as a co-worker, you were important to him. He was an avid gardener, enjoyed traveling, and was a true Sci-Fi geek.

Gary was survived by his husband, Robert Roddy, and they enjoyed 26 unforgettable and happy years together.

As was Gary’s compassionate and loving way, he would appreciate any donations to the American Cancer Society or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

  1. A beloved uncle who was more like a father figure, mentor and a constant friend. I am fortunate he was there for me growing up and I am fortunate to have his soul mate and partner as part of our family. Thank you for letting me be there when you started the next adventure.

  2. I met Gary about ten years ago on a visit to Georgia. Robert and he invited my son and I over for the weekend. They were such gracious host full of entertainment and loving conversations. Gary and Robert made a huge lasagna for dinner. My nine year old wasn’t Interested, nah, not gonna eat, he said. Most wouldn’t blink at a child’s behavior and just ignore them. Not Gary, he quietly went out and brought him a cheese pizza. That my son liked and we enjoyed a beautiful dinner.
There are more significant attributes than a simple act of kindness to Gary. But in the small amount of time I got to know him, I got to really know him. A kind and gentle person. Soft spoke but sincere and always smiling.
My heart goes out to Robert and Gary’s entire family, for he was a beautiful human.

  3. CandleImageI met Gary through working with him at KGP. Gary was one of the hardest most dedicated guy I’ve ever known. Respected by his peers and always willing to help others. He will be greatly missed. No one will be able to fill he shoes.

  4. CandleImageI worked with Gary @ KGPCo and I truly admired his work ethic and his willingness to work long days to service our customers. Gary was truly a one of a kind person! We have work instructions to help navigate our day to day processes but like most of us, Gary had so much knowledge in his mind that are not in those work instructions. Gary was a professional in his interactions with all of us. He will be missed!

  5. CandleImageI’ve worked with Gary for 17 years and he was as dedicated as anyone I’ve ever met. His drive was 2nd to none and was compassionate about everything he was involved in. He was a very meticulous person, and would assist anyone needing help. He was fun to work with, made people laugh and numerous times a year he brought food in for his team. On many occasions he’d come to work in whatever attire fit the holiday, many times full of laughter and fun for everyone to enjoy. He had the kindest heart and will be dearly missed by many. Rest in Peace my friend.

  6. CandleImage???? Prayers and thoughts to Family. Gary was one of the good guys. Was a pleasure to work beside him.

  7. CandleImageI am so thankful for the visits our family had with Gary and Robert over the years when we would visit Atlanta or were just passing through the area. We were always welcomed by Gary and Rob and the hospitality was such a blessing. Their home was always warm and inviting. If I had known on our last visit it would have been the last time with Gary we would have stayed a little longer and savored our time together. He was such a caring person and will definitely be missed by all. We loved Gary for his compassion for everyone around him. Never judgmental or critical of others, that wasn’t who he was. He taught us all how to have a compassionate, caring heart. We love you and will watch over Rob for you.
