Raymond Wallace Simmons, age 89 of Lilburn, GA passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 10th, 2021.

Ray was known as “Papa” to many. He was born on January 12, 1932 in Surry County, North Carolina to the late Hobert and Ola Mae Simmons. He was a United States veteran, serving in the Army from 1953-1961. He was a proud member of the Electrical Union and retired after a distinguished career with the Georgia Duck. His greatest passions included his family (he especially enjoyed taking Brandon and Jackson to school), motorcycles, building bird houses, watching Nascar, the Atlanta Braves, and UGA football. He will be sorely missed.

Mr. Simmons is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Barbara; his sister, Juanita Anauo; half siblings, Steve Simmons and Sondra Folsom; stepson, Ricky Flowers; as well as his sister-in-law Patty Peck (Ken). Also left to cherish his memory are grandchildren: Theresa, Sharla, and Jamey Peck; Adam Flowers (Rebecca) and Brooke Oxenreider (Blake) as well as great grandchildren, Camron, Andrue, Bree, Brandon, Apple, and Jackson. He is preceded in death by his parents: Hobert and Ola Mae Simmons, brother and sister in law Hobert Franklin “Frank” and Chrystal Simmons.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no formal funeral services for Mr. Simmons. The family will be hosting a celebration of life that will be announced at a later date.
