Richard (Rick) R. Holley Rick Holley of Lawrenceville, Georgia, formerly of Anniston, Alabama, died on October 18, 2013, after a courageous six-year battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). He is survived by his wife Suree, stepsons Victor and Mark Preston, his brothers Ron and Mike, and his caregiver Bud Petry. Rick was born in Anniston on July 18, 1961. He was active in Boy Scouts, and became an Eagle Scout at Troop 8 at Parker Memorial Baptist Church. He made a trip to Philmont to the National Scout Jamboree with other members of the troop, as well as many other camporees across the southeast. He played football at Anniston High School, and enjoyed inflicting bone-jarring hits to much larger opponents. He graduated from Anniston High School in 1980 and later received a degree in electronics. He was in business with his brother Ron from 1994 until his death, performing hundreds of projects in lead and asbestos abatement. In his free time, he was an avid softball jock, playing for several teams at once. He also took in many Atlanta Braves games, and became a regular along the first base line with many friends among the Braves' staff. Rick was also an Auburn football fan, enjoying tailgating with his buddies during the National Championship Season. When not attending games, his TV was usually tuned in to a ballgame or a race. Rick made trips to Thailand with his wife and family, and loved the adventure of different cultures. He also loved his '82 Mustang, restored and dangerously fast. Rick lived his life to the fullest. His courage and positive outlook on life during the six years he fought ALS was an inspiration to everyone he met. He was well-loved by his family and many friends. A memorial service will be held on November 2, 2013, at 3:00 PM at Wages & Sons Funeral Home. In accordance with his wishes, a remembrance party will immediately follow the memorial service at Dave & Buster's. In lieu of flowers, Rick requested that people donate their time to help a neighbor or assist the underprivileged in some way.
