Born in: Atlanta, Georgia
Resided in: Snellville, Georgia

Mrs. Sandy Denese Drummond, age 69, of Snellville, Georgia passed away on Friday, March 3, 2023. Sandy was born on November 30, 1953 in Atlanta, Georiga, daughter to the late Junior Lee and Ruby Esta Haney Hewatt.

Sandy was a woman of steadfast faith in The Lord and unconditional love for her family. Her kind heart and selfless nature mirrored that of a Proverbs 31 virtuous lady. A faithful member of Lenora Baptist Church, Sandy taught Sunday School every week and sang in the church choir. She was the epitome of what a perfect mother should be raising three boys and matching their energy from the beginning. There was no limit to the activities she would participate in with her boys, even if that meant riding a skateboard or being the ‘neighborhood mama’.  Sandy was an extraordinary mother, devoted wife, wonderful grandmother, and an exceptional friend; she will most certainly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Along with parents Sandy preceded in death by her brother Michael L. Hewatt.

She is survived by her husband, James D. Drummond; sons, J. Douglas Drummond and Jose R. Montenegro of Houston, Texas, Terry W. Drummond of Decatur, and Jesse C. and Stephanie D. Drummond of Lawrenceville; granddaughters, Scarlett and Sadie-Lynn; siblings, Ronnie Spain of Stone Mountain and Teresa D. and Bobby Wade of Good Hope; sister-in-law, Dee Hewatt of Stone Mountain, and Diane and Andy Holder of Eatonton; aunt, Annette and Paul Slaughter of Stone Mountain; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends also survive.

A funeral service honoring the life of Mrs. Sandy Denese Drummond will be held at twelve o’clock in the afternoon on Monday, March 13, 2023 in the Chapel of Wages and Sons Funeral Directors, Stone Mountain Chapel with the Rev. Terry Briscoe and Rev. Jesse Drummond officiating. Interment will follow in the Lenora Baptist Church Cemetery of Snellville, Georgia.

Calling hours will be held from two o’clock in the afternoon until six on Sunday, March 12, 2023 at the funeral home, as well as an hour prior to the service.

I am so sorry that this happened so suddenly and that she had been released from rehab. But at least you have been able to have quality time with her while she has been with you. And know that you are being listed up so much with your friends here in Houston.

  3. CandleImageDrummond Family,

  4. CandleImageSandy truly was the perfect example of what God intended for a good woman to be. Unfortunately, there are no new words to say during such an immeasurable loss except merely that I am truly sorry. I know what a devastating cavern this leaves in the hearts of her sons. Sending love and light to Douglas, Terry and Jesse. May God bring you comfort that only He can to ease the unbearable sting that you feel during this dark hour.

  5. We are remembering you and your family Douglas. We loved your mom for the kindness and patience she showed Granny Cape.
