William Thomas "Tom" Stephens, Jr., 89, died November 25, 2014 at the Montclair Assisted Living Community in Decatur, GA. In 2008, Tom was preceded in death by Anne, his wife of 59 years. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, he is survived by his daughter, Pat McNulty of Decatur; his daughter and son-in-law, Kay Stephens and Rick Clark of Boulder, CO; his son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Kathleen Stephens of Kensington, Md; and four grandchildren, Will and Ginny McNulty, and Thomas and John Stephens. He is also survived by his brother, John Stephens of Milton, FL; his sister, Boots Eckert of Pensacola, FL; and his brother, Gerald Stephens of Pace, FL. He served in the US Navy during WWII, achieving a rank of Aviation Radioman 3rd Class, and he was enrolled in the Navy V12 College Training Program, attending Georgia Institute of Technology. He completed his degree in Industrial Engineering following his Navy discharge. He was a lifelong supporter of scholarships at Georgia Tech. Tom was a 50+ year Master Mason and belonged to Nelms F&AM Masonic Lodge Number 323 of Smyrna, GA. A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 5, at 2pm in the Community Room of Clairmont Place Independent Living Community, 2100 Clairmont Lake, Decatur, GA, 30030.
