Arthur Mederic Bartlett

Arthur Mederic Bartlett passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 in Lawrenceville Georgia.

Arthur was a family man, a machinist, a farmer, a carpenter, and a World War II veteran who served in the US Army Air Corps in support of the Berlin Airlift.

Arthur was born in Griswold, Connecticut on November 14,1928 to Arthur S. Bartlett and Regina Clairmont Bartlett. He was raised in Fall River, Massachusetts. He attended L’Ecole de St Mathieu and Durfee High School. He enlisted in the Army at 18. After training in Worcester, MA and Wichita Falls, TX, he was assigned to Freising, Germany. There he maintained the electrical grid supporting the flight line and air traffic control tower.

He met his wife Jeanne on a blind date in 1948. They were married in 1952 in Somerset, Massachusetts where they built their home. They had one daughter. Art worked as a machinist at Browne and Sharp and then, Pneumatic Scale in Quincy where he worked for 35 years. He spent many summers gardening, raising the family’s vegetables and caring for his daughter’s chickens and bunny.

He retired in 1989. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren.

Arthur is preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne (Wamboldt), his parents, Arthur and Regina Bartlett, his sisters, Eva Michel, Rita Berube, Blanche Soucy, Theresa Soucy, Florence Pregana and his brothers Louis Bartlett and Normand Bartlett. He is survived by his daughter, Valerie (Chris) Curry; his grandchildren, Shane (Aliccia) Curry, Stephen (Alli) Curry; his great grandchildren, Isabella Nichole Curry, Zachary Daniel Curry, Banks Alexander Curry, and Brooks Arthur Curry.

A Mass and celebration of his life will be held on 24 October 2026 at 10:00 am at St Thomas More Catholic Church, Somerset, Massachusetts.
