Carol Ann Roussie

Carol Ann Boniello Roussie, 86, of Lawrenceville Georgia, died on August 14, 2026, at her home, with her family by her side.

“Christmas Carol” was born on December 25, 1939, in Niagara Falls, New York, to Julia and Louis Boniello. She met Frederick “Fred” Simon Roussie at the Catholic young adult program, and they were married on September 8, 1962. To get away from the long New York winters, they moved to Georgia in 1978. They were together for 46 years until Fred’s death in 2008.

Carol wore a number of hats in her long and fulfilling life. Her career started with working for the Niagara Falls police department, cooking for a convent and various schools, and very proud to have spent the last 20 years of her career as real estate agent and broker. She was very involved with her churches, including writing for the Neumann News, working with Stephen Ministry, and helping with any Life Teen event that she could, even if it was just baking her famous brownies. One of her greatest accomplishments was attending Dekalb College, after raising her family, and earning two associates degrees.

While Carol was known for her brownies and Italian food, she could cook and bake anything you asked of her, often looking for a challenge. That also translated into teaching cooking classes. She and Fred opened their heart and home to everyone. She was very social, looking for ways to entertain and find friends everywhere she went, including the pool. She was an avid swimmer, swimming 3-5 days a week. She also loved babysitting her twin great nieces, Izzy and Gabby.

As the “matriarch” to the Roussie family, she raised a lot of girls. She is survived by her children, Angel Roussie, Juliette Roussie Staggs (Todd), both of Lawrenceville, GA and Yvette Roussie of Athens, GA; her grandchildren, Cady Staggs and Jessica Staggs; her great grandchildren, Frances Luca and Ezra Luca, her nieces/nephews, Alysia Cantrell, Suzanne Roussie, Nicole Jeswald, Kim Cancilla, Louis Cancilla and Marty Cancilla. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred; her parents; Julia and Louis, her sister, Betty Cancilla, and son in law Todd Staggs.

Funeral service will be held at Saint John Neumann Catholic Church, 801 Tom Smith Road, Lilburn, Ga, 40047 on Tuesday, August 18th, beginning visitation at 11:00 a.m. followed by mass at 12:00 p.m., reception to follow. Burial will be at Gwinnett Memorial Park at 3:00 p.m. at 925 Lawrenceville Hwy, Lawrenceville, 30046.
