Louise Monique Young

Louise Monique Young, affectionately known to some as “Weezy,” will be lovingly remembered for her devotion to family, generous heart, wonderful cooking, and unmistakable style.

Born in Drummondville, Canada, to Jean Gagnon and Giuseppe D’Ambrosio, Louise moved to Montreal at age ten and grew up with her brothers, Robert and Norman D’Ambrosio. She cherished both brothers and shared an especially close bond with Norman.

In 1964, Louise met Henry Raymond Young in Plattsburgh, New York. They married in 1965 and shared 52 years together before his passing in 2017. As a United States Air Force wife, she accompanied Henry to the Philippines before returning to Bayside, Queens, ahead of the birth of their first child.

Louise devoted herself to raising their children, Daryl and Monique. From home-cooked meals and trips to parks, zoos, and aquariums to train rides to Canada and countless practices and games, she filled their childhood with love and lasting memories. A protective and selfless mother, she provided the guidance and encouragement that helped shape their lives. Her changing hairstyles (from red to brunette, blonde, and even a touch of purple) reflected her flair and individuality.

She leaves behind her children, Daryl and Monique; daughter-in-law, Maria Young; grandchildren, Sidni Bull, Myles Young, Kelsey Whitmore, and Tyler Young; great-grandchildren, Noella and Noriah Whitmore; and Marcus Whitmore. She also cherished her nieces and nephews, Kimmie, Cindy, Vincent and Michael Ferland, and Ginger and Raymond Napier. Kearstan Lackey and Stephen Williams held special places in her heart as grandchildren of her own.

Louise treasured her enduring friendships with her late childhood friend, Claudette Gagnon; Lolita Smith, whom she loved like a sister; Shanese Williams, her friend and business partner; and Amy Coachman, whom she loved like a second daughter. Her love extended warmly to their families.

The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to Susan Brown for her tender, devoted caregiving and to Louise’s granddaughter, Sidni, whose loving presence and healthcare experience made a meaningful difference in her grandmother’s care.

Louise’s legacy lives on through the lessons she taught, the stories her family shares, and the love that binds them together. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.

A service honoring Louise’s life will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Wages & Sons Gwinnett Chapel in Lawrenceville, Georgia. The family will receive friends at the chapel prior to the service from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m.
