Mary Jo Alvord, age 95, of Lawrenceville, Georgia, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2026.

Born on September 25, 1930, in Bellingham, Washington, Mary Jo was a proud graduate of Meridian High School in Bellingham. She later made her home in Lawrenceville, Georgia, where she built a life centered around family, faith, and community.

Mary Jo worked in a telephone office early in her career before dedicating herself to her role as a household executive, a position she carried with pride and devotion. Her life was defined by her warmth, generosity, and the meaningful relationships she cultivated over the years.

She was actively involved in several organizations, including the Tonto Group, CWF, and Ladies Golf. Mary Jo also generously gave her time volunteering for the High Hope Golf Tournament for many years. In her leisure time, she enjoyed golfing, participating in church activities, and spending time with the ladies at her church and within the Tonto Group.

Mary Jo is survived by her sons, Patrick Charles “Charlie” Alvord and Tom Hlaas; her daughter Tami Alvord Watson (Lou). She was a loving grandmother to Corey Watson, Crystal Watson (Rodney), Heather Strohmeyer (Nick), and Steven Alvord (Natalie), and is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Brittany Watson. She leaves behind step-grandchildren, Laura Burchfield and Eric Simonini, as well as several family members on the West Coast. Mary Jo was blessed with four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, April 12, at 3:00 PM at First Christian Church, 3495 Sugarloaf Parkway, Lawrenceville, Georgia.

Mary Jo will be laid to rest at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the MS Society, in honor of her granddaughter.
