Mattie H Fain

September 21, 1932 — January 29, 2026

Lilburn

Mattie H. Fain, age 93, of Lilburn, Ga., was called to her eternal home on January 29, 2026, and is now rejoicing in the promise that “to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.” She was born on September 21, 1932, to the late Elmer and Dessie Horton.

Mattie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joe Fain, and her sons, Jerry Fain and Charles Fain, with whom she is joyfully reunited in Heaven. She is survived by her loving son, Jody Fain, and her devoted daughter, Sherri Collins (Randy), holding tightly to the wisdom, joy, and boundless love she poured into them.

She leaves behind a beautiful legacy through her seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, each of whom carries a piece of her spirit, her kindness, and her faith.

Mattie was a very special woman who made a lasting impact in this world and in the lives of everyone she met. Her presence brought comfort, her words brought peace, and her smile brought joy. She showed unconditional love to all-family, friends, neighbors, and even strangers- living out the heart of Christ in every interaction.

A faithful servant of the Lord for her entire life, Mattie walked closely with Him, modeling true discipleship in all she did. She was known as a powerful prayer warrior, lifting family, friends, and her community up daily. Her unwavering faith was the foundation on which our family stood, and her life boldly displayed God’s love, grace, and goodness. Her service to her family, her community, and especially her church was a shining testimony of a believer who quietly and humbly embodied Christ.

Mattie was the heart and matriarch of our family. She was our anchor, our encourager, our spiritual guide, and our treasured source of wisdom. Her home was a place where love was abundant, faith was nurtured, and everyone felt welcome.

As we grieve her earthly absence, we also rejoice in knowing she has heard the words she lived her whole life to hear: “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

Her legacy will continue to live on in the lives she touched, the generations she shaped, the prayers she prayed, and the love she poured out so freely.
