Roger John Finnegan, age 85, of Dunwoody, Georgia, passed away on April 22, 2026. He was born on November 28, 1940, in Glasgow, Scotland, and immigrated to the United States at the age of 8 with his parents and siblings.
Roger was a graduate of Macomber High School in Toledo, Ohio. He proudly served his country for 2 years in the National Guard before continuing his military service in the U.S. Army Special Forces Reserves for 8 years, during which he earned the distinguished title of Green Beret. He later served as a Chairperson for the 82nd Airborne Division Association, remaining deeply connected to the military community he cherished.
He was a lifelong entrepreneur and a member of the Catholic church, serving periodically as a eucharistic minister.
Roger was preceded in death by his father, Rodger Finnegan; his mother, Kathleen (McAuley) Finnegan; his sister, Patricia (Finnegan) Hamilton; and his wives Patricia (Godbee) Finnegan, Gail (Wise) Finnegan, and Bambi (Hoff) Finnegan.
He is survived by his brother, Barry Finnegan, and Barry’s wife, Christine, of Hove, East Sussex, UK; his children, Sean Finnegan, Cathleen (Finnegan) Kreisel and her husband Brian, and Rod Finnegan and his wife Julie. Roger was a grandfather to five grandchildren — Patrick (Britt) Finnegan, Anastasia Kreisel, Joshua (Rachel) Kreisel, Christopher Finnegan, and Olivia Finnegan — and a great‑grandfather to two great‑grandchildren.
In keeping with his wishes, Roger has been cremated. The family will gather for a Celebration of Life at a later date.
