Sue Garrison Williams

Sue Garrison Williams, age 92, passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2026. The daughter of the late Glenn Davis and Harriet Rachel Garrison, grew up in DeQueen, Arkansas, with her brother David Garrison of Plano Texas.

Sue attended Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas and transferred to the University of Arkansas where she met and married Edmund Williams Jr. After Ed’s graduation he was shipped out to Germany to serve in the United States Air Force as a pilot. Sue, as a young bride, traveled alone on a ship to join him. This adventure planted the seeds for her love of travel. Over the years, Sue and Ed took many trips and cruises. Fifty years later, they retraced their newlywed journey to Germany.

After returning from Germany, she received her bachelor's degree in education at Central Arkansas and her master’s degree at the University of Memphis. Sue taught school in Arkansas, Louisiana, and Georgia for a total of 30 years. She loved her fifth grade students and was well respected by her students, their parents and her colleagues.

Sue leaves a legacy of beautiful memories and a family full of faith and love. Her family includes 4 children: Lisa W. Gantner, Laura W. Kintz (Doug), D. Harriet Williams, and Edmund L. Williams III (Liliana). She also had 6 grandchildren: Glenn Ganter (April), Emily Kintz, Alyssa Bacon (Alex Sr.), Ben Williams, Mitch Williams, and Beau Williams. Additionally, there are 5 great grandsons: Owen Colon, Luca Gantner, Alex Bacon Jr., Liam Bacon and Kai Gantner.

Sue was dedicated to her faith and her church. After several moves, they settled in Tucker, Georgia where they raised their family. Sue’s family joined Tucker Methodist Church where lifetime friendships were established in the COMET class. After retirement Sue and Ed moved to Jackson Lake in Monticello, Georgia. They represented Monticello Methodist as delegates at the UMC annual conference for several years. Sue also organized several trips for members of the congregation.

When she entered hospice, she spent her time listening to Christian music and visiting with family. Every Saturday she would request to watch the football games. All of her life she was a die-hard Razorback fan. If the game was close, her caregivers were instructed to turn it off as she could not watch.

Our family would like to recognize Inspire Hospice. The care she received at their hands was extraordinary. Junise RN, and Connie CNA, along with countless others were a godsend. They brought light, humor, peace, and dignity during this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Jackson Lake Volunteer Fire Department and Auxiliary.
