Clarence Willard Dixon

Clarence W. Dixon went home to our heavenly Father in the early morning hours of Dec. 18th, 2021. He was born 07/29/1940 in Fayetteville, TN the eldest child of Jewel and Clarence Dixon. Shortly after finishing high school, he entered the Air Force where he served proudly until 1966. It was while in service that he acquired his lifelong love of travel. After serving he attended Tennessee State University graduating with a degree in chemistry. A few years later he went to work for Bristol Myers Squibb starting in the labs although he was steadily promoted to several positions which found him traveling all over the world. He would stay at Bristol until retirement in 2006.

Throughout his life he was involved in numerous activities and several clubs. While in Syracuse, he and a group of friends created the 1st Lions Club composed of men of color. In addition to his responsibilities to the Lions Club, he found time for tennis, bowling, skiing, fishing, ushering at a theater in Syracuse which indulged a lifetime love of music, classic car shows and, a stint as a disc jockey on the late night shift at a small radio station just to name some. In later years when his job took him to Wallingford/Meriden CT his frequent travel schedule became so hectic it curtailed his participation in many of his hobbies but he still found time for his friends and family. After retirement, he lived in Lawrenceville, GA where he became an active member of the Gwinnett Veteran’s Museum for many years. Throughout everything he remained devoted to his greatest passion: cooking. He was a very accomplished cook and loved paging through his many cookbooks and magazines looking for new recipes to try.

In addition to his wife, Lucrecia “CeCe” Alemán Dixon and stepson Jay, he is survived by brothers: Paul, Donald, Jack, Gary, Ricky, and sister, Rachel Hampton. He also leaves behind countless other family and friends from all over the world many of whom he stayed in touch with until recently. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to a Lewy Body Dementia research charity such as: The Michael J. Fox Foundation, The Emory Brain Health Center (be sure to specify Brain Health), or The Lewy Body Dementia Assoc.

Wages & Sons of Lawrenceville, GA will be handling the services. A viewing will be held Monday the 3rd of January, 2022 and a graveside service and burial will take place on Wednesday the 5th of January at the Blanche Chapel in TN.
