A memorial service for Claudia Stroud Dickens will be at 2:00PM on Thursday, November 10, 2022, at Wages & Sons Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Peter O’Neill, Senior Pastor of Cornerstone Bible Church in Lilburn, Georgia, will officiate. Claudia passed away at Accent Care Hospice in Cumming, Georgia on Sunday, October 23, 2022, following a stroke.

She was born in Lincolnton, North Carolina on January 30,1948, to Joseph Edward Stroud and Nell Leonard Stroud. She graduated from South Mecklenburg High School in Charlotte, North Carolina in 1966 and from Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte in 1968 with an associate degree in Secretarial Science. She went to work for Mill Power Supply Company which was the purchasing division of Duke Power Company (Duke Energy). She retired in 2014 from McKendree Elementary School, where she had worked for 26 years as a teacher’s assistant, reading tudor, and media clerk.

Claudia, along with her husband, Gene, became members of Cornerstone Bible Church last year where they have attended for 2 years. They formerly attended Bethesda Methodist Church in Lawrenceville where Claudia had been active in the church’s cub scout program (den mother) as well as the Methodist women (various offices held).

Claudia was preceded in death by her brother, Gary (wife, Diane) of Lynchburg, Virginia. She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Gene of Lawrenceville, Georgia; son, Phillip Dickens of Lawrenceville, Georgia; daughter, Courtney Dickens Hanes (husband, Kori) of Summerville, South Carolina. She is also survived by her brothers, Eddie Stroud (wife, Ann) of Lilburn, Georgia, Don Stroud (Ken Mast) of Lincolnton, North Carolina, and a host of Nieces & Nephews.

In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to Gwinnett Medical Center Foundation, Emory Winship Cancer Institute, Special Kneads & Treats, Inc. of Lawrenceville, Georgia or Cornerstone Bible Church in Lilburn, Georgia.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 10, 2022, from 1:00- 2:00PM at Wages & Sons Funeral Home, 1031 Lawrenceville Highway, Lawrenceville, Georgia 30046. Online condolences may be expressed at www.wagesandsons.com.

  3. Claudia was one of my earthly angels. We had so many fun times together and she helped me through the difficult days of Jim’s illness and passing. I will miss her each and every day. She had the kindest heart and beautiful smile. We had plans to do some plantings in my yard the day she had the stroke. When I look at my plantings and flowers my heart will be full of love for her.

  5. Claudia was first cousin and the only girl of my generation. She was so sweet and always seemed so happy, but we were not able to get together due to distance of North Carolina and Georgia.
