Darlene Yavonne Cosby

Born Darlene Yavonne Hicks on August 28, 1961 first daughter to Melvin H Hicks Sr. and Elmarease J Hicks, in Cleveland OH.

Darlene gave birth to a daughter Latasha Diane Hicks on December 24, 1981 and a son John Andrew Cosby III on March 13, 1986, her heart and granddaughter Arianna Najji Brooks born December 4, 2009.

Survived by her siblings, Angela Denise Hicks, Wonda Michelle Hicks-Stevenson, Melvin Harvester Hicks Jr. And nephew Jamel Jakeen Bostick.

Darlene lived in Connecticut from 1961-1989, she graduated from Robert E. Fitch Senior High School. In 1989she moved to Stone Mountain Georgia.

Her surviving aunts and uncles on her fathers side are Winnie Durham, Bill Hicks and Darlene Withers, and on her mother’s side Alice Gott, Irene Romney, Florenzo Johnson and Eric Johnson. Her surviving great aunts and uncle are Juanita Johnson, Clifford and Emma Thomas, Francis Clarke and Joan Johnson. She also leaves behind a host of cousins and friends.

Darlene worked for Atlanta Maternal Fetal Medical from 1998 until her retirement in 2016.  On December 12, 2022 Darlene transitioned to be with her lord.

Her final moments were with her mother and sister (Wonda) by her side. She remained the same Darlene we know and loved until her end.
