David Harold Ray

May 8, 1958 ~ May 25, 2025
Born in:
Montgomery, Alabama
Resided in:
Duluth, Georgia
David Ray, a man of wisdom, warmth, and quiet strength, passed away too soon at the
age of 67. With his presence alone, David had a way of drawing people in—whether
through easy conversation over a glass of wine or shared laughter with friends on the
porch, often with a cigar in hand. He lived fully and generously, traveling the world with
his beloved wife, Carol, savoring new experiences and honoring the deep roots of his
cherished Scottish heritage.
David was a proud and devoted father to five children—Jerritt, Calli, Matthew, Weston,
and Travis—who adored him and will carry his legacy in the ways they live and love. He
showed up for people—not only as a companion in life’s joys and struggles but as a
steady presence and source of guidance for all who knew him. He was also a loving
grandfather to Jackson, Sofia, Liam, Harvey, Shepherd, William, and Parker, each of
whom brought him endless pride and joy.
David was proceeded in death by his parents Travis and Doris Ray as well as his sister
Ginger Ray. He is survived with deep love by his wife Carol, his children and
grandchildren, brother Randy and a wide circle of friends who treasured his generosity,
humor, and the quiet grace with which he moved through the world. David was more
than a father and friend—he was a source of light in the lives of many. His presence will
be missed profoundly, but his spirit remains alive in the hearts and stories of those he
touched.

Thank you for sharing David with his colleagues. While we didn’t work together for decades, it didn’t take long to recognize who he was as a leader and most importantly as a person outside work. He cared deeply about those around him and was not shy to share his love for his family with us.
My sincere condolences to all of you who mourn David’s loss.

Dear Ray Family,
David’s untimely passing has devastated all of his colleagues at Fortis Life Sciences. David was an admired leader, a treasured colleague and an exceptional person. I still join meetings expecting to see him, cheerful and immaculately dressed as he always was. Sadly, it is not to be.
I speak for every one of his Fortis colleagues in saying that we will miss David more than words can express. His memory will be a blessing to us. We are all holding each of you, and David, in our hearts and our prayers in these difficult hours, and we send our deepest condolences to you all.
