Denise Gertrude Forte died unexpectedly on February 28th in Lawrenceville, Georgia at the age of 53. Denise is mourned by her daughter Ashleigh Olivia Forte; mother Roseabelle McConduit Forte, two sisters Claudian Forte and Jacqueline Forte-Mackay, as well as family and friends. Denise Gertrude Forte was born on January, 13th 1962 at Flint Goodrich Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana to parents Jack Arthur Forte and Rosabelle McConduit Forte . Denise always had a great passion for academics and excelled at every stage of her academic career. She instilled that same passion in her daughter, who graduated from Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia in May 2014 . Currently, Ashleigh is an officer in the United States Navy. Denise graduated from Xavier University of Louisiana, Magna Cum Laude, in 1982 where she earned her Bachelors of Science in Biology- Chemistry . During her time at Xavier, she pledged Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc and became a sister of the Epsilon Tau Chapter in 1981. She continued her education at Tulane Medical School, but did not complete her degree in order to become a loving mother. After moving to Atlanta, Georgia with her daughter she became a middle school substitute teacher in Dekalb County for Atlanta’s public schools. A traffic accident left her unable to continue her work in the education system. She was an astonishingly intelligent person who was passionate about the science and medical field. Always wanting to enrich her mind, Denise loved educating herself through books, travel and adventure. She also had a great love for her favorite musician, Prince. Her love of Prince will live on through all those she held dear. We cannot forget about her third greatest love, Dogs. Denise cared for many dogs throughout her life, each one of them providing love, joy and happiness within her home. Her life was filled with many blessings. She will be sorely missed.

  3. Ashleigh,
I am so sorry for your loss. Your mother was a wonderful friend to me. We were close friends all throughout middle school, high school and college. I have many fond unforgettable memories of your mother. The last time I spoke to Denise was a few days after you were born. That conversation with your mother was the happiest I had ever witnessed her to be. She was so full of joy and absolutely elated over your birth. She said that you being born was the best thing that ever happened in her life. I know that she had to be extremely proud of the young lady that you have grown to become. Ashleigh, Denise will always be your special angel. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you , your grandmother and your aunts.

  4. Ashleigh – I am lifting you in prayer. I was one of the Ursuline girls and knew your mom since 7th grade. We were a close knit group through junior high, high school and college. Many, many fond memories come to mind when I think about Denise. Her blue Chevrolet Camaro was the hottest car in school !!! Your mom had a real zest for living life to the fullest. You look so much like she did when she was your age…it’s like we are looking at her. May almighty God bless you and keep you during this difficult time and forever. My prayers, along with the Ursuline Merry Macs of ’79 are with you and your family.

  5. Ashleigh, I want to offer my love, prayers and support . Please know that God is caring for you through the hands and hearts of all who love you. I was also apart of the Ursuline and Xavier crew and spent a lot of weekends on Press Drive with your mom during those years. May your heart and soul find peace and comfort.

  6. Ashleigh, your mother was one of my oldest friends. She was literally the girl next door, as we grew up together on Press Dr in New Orleans. I am deeply saddened to hear of her passing. I have been, and will continue to pray for her and for you. May she truly rest in peace, and may you find comfort in her memory and in all the good things that are in you that come from her. In that way she will always be with you.

  7. to brush your teeth by 8 and she RUNS to the bathroom to brush! Dr. Trey did a LOT of work in my 7 year olds mouth. So proaossienfl and informative. You will leave his office on cloud 9, I promise! I wish I had a Dr.Trey when I was growing up. Gracie cannot wait to go back for her 6 month cleaning! Just LOVE them!

  8. We are so sorry for your loss. May the God of all comfort, continue to be with you and your family during this difficult time. We all look forward to a time, when death will be no more-Rev 21:4. Our prayers are with you.

  9. Your mom and I were friends at Mary D. Coghill elementary school in the greatest neighborhood in New Orleans, Pontchartrain Park. We were friends through high school and attended Xavier together. She was always a smiling face and a warm spirit and I join you in your sorrow at her passing
