Essie, I remember meeting you for the first time before you came to our school. I thought you were just a quiet little girl…how wrong I was! Your personality just burst through making new friends and vocalizing your preferences. Your facial expressions and vocalizations told us everything we needed to know about how you were feeling even though you didn’t communicate through speaking. I hope you enjoyed our Saturday trips as much as I did….though I think you enjoyed the journey more than the destinations!

My sweet Essence. I cherish the years I got to know you at Oakland and the year I had you as a student. You are such a great girl with a great family who loves you always! Your singing and your smile will be missed, but you are free to be who you truly are now. Sing with the angels sweet Essence.
