Gurpal Singh Gill

Gurpal Singh Gill, a loving father of 3 and grandfather of 7, passed away peacefully on the morning of July 3rd, 2023, surrounded by his family, at 80 years old.

He spent his childhood in a small village of Jhar Sahib India along with his 2 brothers and sister. He was the first person from this village to pursue and complete a college education. He always had a strong passion for education and left the small village to pursue a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College and graduated in 1964.

He married Jaswant Kaur Gill in April 1966 and raised three beautiful, loving children. They moved to Sindri Bihar where he was an engineer at a fertilizer plant. He was granted a 10 year visa to come to the United States and on the 10th year, he made the decision to bring his family to the US. He worked very hard and diligently to settle his family with over 25 years as a lead engineer at Southern Company at Plant Vogle and Plant Hatch. He lived in Augusta, Georgia followed by Vidalia, Georgia and most recently been living in Marietta, Georgia for the past 21 to enjoy his retirement, his family, his friends, and dedication to the Gurdwara. During the course of his life, he made deep connections and friends wherever he went. He was very involved with Guru Nanak Mission Society for many years, where he was a dear friend and touched the lives of everyone he met. He was known to be very spiritual, an amazing story teller, witty, intelligent, honest, hardworking and always kept people around him smiling.

He is survived by his wife Sardarni Jaswant Kaur Gill Ji, his brother, Chanchel Singh Gill; his three children, Jasdev, Baldip, and Mary; and his seven grandchildren who he adored, Umbrosia, Sajind, Ahdil, Rumka, Shaan, Nyah, and Sofia.
