Inez Lee Gunter

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Inez Lee Gunter, formerly Inez Lee Pellman, who left this world on November 5, 2023. Inez was born on November 8, 1943 in Waukesha, Wisconsin but she called Georgia home for the last 40 years. Her departure from this world leaves a void in the hearts of those who know and loved her.

Inez spent most of her adult life working in sales at Knolls Industries but her passion was travel and square dancing, especially later in life. She enjoyed cruises with her dance group and exploring little towns along the East Coast. Her love of flowers was apparent to anyone who knew her, as was her love for her grandchildren.

Inez is preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Lamar Gunter, with whom she shared many cherished moments, and her daughter, Susan Marie Godfrey, her little angel.

Inez is survived by her son, Timothy Owen Godfrey (Kandee) and 4 grandchildren, Courtney Dankewich (Neil), Amanda Buck (Joshua), Joshua Godfrey and Katie Grace Godfrey. In addition, she leaves behind a legacy of siblings: Barbara Magrosky, Charlotte Kutz, Janice Kampstad (Lee), Pamela Schroedl, Dale Pellman (Carrie), Lee Pellman (Linda), Jerry Pellman (Carrie) and Scott Pellman. Inez’s family was a source of great joy and pride to her, and she held a special place in her heart for each of them.

A service to celebrate Inez Lee Gunter’s life will be held on Monday, November 13, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Wages and Sons Gwinnett Chapel, located at 1030 Lawrenceville Hwy., Lawrenceville, GA 30046. Following the service, an interment will be held at Prospect United Methodist Church Cemetery, located at 1549 Prospect Rd., Lawrenceville, GA 30043. This final resting place will be a fitting place for her to enjoy all the flowers, trees, birds and butterflies she so enjoyed in life.

Inez Lee Gunter will be remembered for her silly sense of humor, her giving nature and her ability to do-si-do her partner round and round. She will be deeply missed but will live on in the hearts and memories of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
