James Douglas Hogsed, born in Akron, Ohio, to parents Ward Jimmie Hogsed and Blon Hogsed, entered into eternal rest on January 2, 2024, at Golden Manor Senior Living. James, 78, leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and unwavering faith.

James’s journey through life was marked by dedication and passion, especially in the field of printing. His career included notable positions at Foote & Davies, People’s Printing, and, most recently, Primerica, where he served as a Proof Director until his retirement in 2008. A graduate of Hayesville High School, James’s commitment to excellence was evident both professionally and personally.

In service to his country, James proudly served in the United States Marine Corps as a rifleman. His training included specialized courses in Jungle Operations, Cold Weather Training, and Counter Guerilla Warfare. James’s time in the Marine Corps instilled in him a deep sense of discipline and patriotism that he carried throughout his life.

A devoted Christian, James was an active member of Maranatha Baptist Church in Lilburn, GA, until his health prevented his attendance. His love for the Lord was evident in his daily life, and he found comfort and strength in his faith.

James had a thirst for knowledge and a love for history, particularly the Civil War. An avid reader, he immersed himself in stories of the past, always seeking to expand his understanding of the world. His interests also extended to Nascar, reflecting his appreciation for the excitement of the racetrack.

Known for his infectious sense of humor, James had a gift for making those around him smile. His generosity, kindness, and genuine care endeared him to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His family, friends, and colleagues are grateful for the love and warmth he shared.

James leaves behind a family filled with love, sadness, and gratitude for the memories they shared. He is survived by his devoted wife, Carolyn I. Hogsed, daughters Kimberly Hennessey (Kevin) of Lawrenceville, GA, Christie Sears (David) of Snellville, GA, Rebekah Hogsed of Chicago, IL, and Jimmie Hogsed of Covington, GA. He is also survived by his brother Monroe Hogsed (Dollie) of Hayesville, NC, 7 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service to honor James Douglas Hogsed’s life will be held at a later date. His family asks for your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time and expresses gratitude for the love and support extended to them. Though he will be deeply missed, they find comfort in the knowledge that James has gone to his Heavenly home, reunited with the Lord.
