Kenneth Lee Powers
October 16, 1936 ~ April 24, 2024
Born in:
St. Louis, Missouri
Resided in:
Johns Creek, Georgia
In loving memory of Kenneth Lee Powers, 87, a loving husband and devoted father of 3, cherished grandfather of 7 and proud great-grandfather of 6. He is survived by his wife of 66 years Carol Diane Powers; children Steven Anthony Powers, Robert Lee Powers, and David Lawrence Powers, 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Ken honorably served in the United States Navy from 1955 to 1958. During his tour, he proudly served on the flight deck of two carriers, the USS Coral Sea and the USS Intrepid. He left military service with dedication and honor, and made his unit and the Navy better than when he arrived. A natural born leader, Ken moved on to the private sector working in Loss Prevention for a fledgling package delivery company, UPS. This is where his star shined brightest as he was assigned two projects regarding interstate trucking tariffs that resulted in landmark cases UPS won thus setting the tone for all trucking companies operating in USA. These projects propelled his career as he progressed up through the ranks only to retire after 37 years of distinguished service as a District Customer Service Manager.
Although he was not from here, Ken was a staunch follower of the Braves, Falcons, and Hawks. All of his grandchildren played sports and nothing gave him more pride than watching them play. He excelled in both his military and private sector responsibilities but his true greatness shown through as a father, husband, and grandfather. He was a kind man and never turned his back on anyone in need. He will be missed terribly by all. We love you so much.
