Sammie Lewis Hardy

January 10, 1948 — January 31, 2023

Sammie Lewis Hardy, born on January 10, 1948 in Prattville, AL passed away on January 31st, 2023 Stone Mountain, GA at the age of 75.

Sammie was welcomed into this world on January 10, 1948 to James and Anna Bell Hardy. He was one of eight siblings born and raised in Prattville, Montgomery. Later in his teenage years Sam decided to leave Alabama and experience life living in Alaska with his brother James and then making his way to the streets of New York City, where he later resided and spent most of his years in Brooklyn, New York.

Sam loved his family and friends. He had a passion for music (blues), playing the guitar, and mostly fixing cars. He was a mechanic by heart and our Mr. Fix It! Sam could figure out anything; he wouldn’t give up until the job was done. Not to forget how much he enjoyed cooking, producing the finest catfish and cornbread! He was our family’s cook and our sous-chef. He was an amazing husband, dad and grand-dad. He always wanted to be the good cop of the family by spoiling his children and grandchildren. His happy moments were when we got together as family. Although he enjoyed his many years living in the big city, his heart was always in the South. Sam and his wife Rose, later moved to Stone Mountain, GA, where he lived for 22 years, spending time with his daughters, son and grandkids.

Sammie is adored by so many people and will be missed. Rest in peace. Father, friend, and husband.

We love you. His lovely life will always be cherished by his wife.

Survived by his wife Rose M. Hardy of Stone Mountain, Georgia; his children, Bobby J. Myers (Janice Myers) of Snellville, Georgia; Pamela Simmons ( Dana Simmons) of Lithonia, Georgia; Sammie Hardy (Robin Hardy) of Ohio; preceded in death by son, Tony T. Myers (daughter-in-law Audrey Myers) of Brooklyn, New York and Demetria Y. Hardy-Reid of Stone Mountain, Georgia, Zoie Myers of Stone Mountain, Georgia, Lena Hardy of Stone Mountain, Georgia, Simone Hardy of Atlanta, Georgia. Grandchildren: Saquette Johns (Norris Johns), Jalen Myers, Tony Myers Jr., Faith I. Simmons, Bianka Reid, Bobbi J. Myers, Samuel Hardy, Gabriel Hardy, and Isaiah Hardy; Bonus Grandchildren: Dana Simmons, Jr. and Jazmine Simmons. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Hardy and Anna Belle Hardy.
