Sandra (Sandy) Lee Stowder Hicks, age 72, of Columbia, Tennessee, beloved wife, mother, and
grandmother, passed away Monday, April
28, 2025.
Sandy was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, the only daughter of William R. and Fern Stowder.
She attended the University of Cincinnati and graduated with her Bachelor’s degree in Business
Administration.
Sandy was a talented vocalist, pianist, and seamstress, and excelled in the performing arts
throughout high school and college. After graduating college, she worked at Xerox as an
administrative assistant until 1981, when she married Lt. Col. Raymond Hicks.
Sandy had a lifelong passion for music, arts, and crafts, and loved sharing it with others. She
volunteered countless hours with her youngest daughter’s high school Color Guard and Winter Guard
programs as a chaperone and seamstress and lovingly was called “Mama Hicks”.
More than anything, Sandy loved and was devoted to her family. Known as Gammie, she adored her
grandchildren and nothing made her happier than seeing them grow and succeed.
She is survived by her two daughters Jennifer Hicks Morrissey and Katherine Hicks, her son-in-law
Maj. Noah Morrissey, and her three beloved grandchildren.
A service is being held privately.
A donation to the Alzheimer’s Association has been made in your Honor.
Love,
