Sara JoAnn Pickens (Clarke), a wonderful woman loved by all passed away on February 10, 2016. JoAnn was born on May 4, 1936 to Gertrude and Luther Clarke. She married the love of her life, Garland Eugene Pickens, on December 24, 1953. JoAnn spent most of her adult life as a devoted mother, homemaker and helper of others. Her passion in life was to use her outstanding God-given talents to benefit other people, especially children. She spent most of her time engaging in loving activities with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and all other children in her life, she was known simply as “Nana” to them. JoAnn is survived by her husband, Gene, her daughters, Sherrie and Rebecca, her grandchildren, Ryan, Kristen and Brett and her great grandchildren Noah, Claire and Porter. JoAnn lived a wonderful Christian life. Her caring and giving personality touched the lives of many. From the beginning of her illness until she passed, she was surrounded by family and friends, who kept her happy and loved. The family will welcome friends at 11:00am at Bethel Baptist Church in Stone Mountain, GA on Sunday, February 14 with a service to celebrate JoAnn’s extraordinary life immediately following at 12:00.   2. Joann was a sweet person. I really enjoyed hearing her sing with her Bro.,J.L. Clark, Sisters, Martha George and Daisy Cantrell. She will be greatly missed, but she is in a better plae, singing in Glory tonight.

  3. JoAnn was a one of a kind, amazing lady and I know she is being missed already. I loved her laugh and loved to hear her sing. I can see her, Gene, JL, Martha and all the siblings at Bethel singing. I can only imagine how bright her smile is up there today. And I know we will all hear and see them singing again one day. JoAnn lived her life for God and family and loved everyone with a heart of gold. Please know that you all are in my thoughts and prayers.
