Resided in: Stone Mountain, Georgia

Scott Cravens, of Stone Mountain, Georgia, passed away on Monday, May 29, 2023.

Scott Edward Cravens was born in Fort Collins, Colorado, on February 4, 1983, to Ron and Cathy Cravens. He grew up in a multitude of places – Colorado, Idaho, Texas, Nebraska, and Pennsylvania where he graduated from high school. He then moved to Kansas with his parents and attended the University of Kansas (KU) where he graduated with a Master’s in Aerospace Engineering. He was employed with an engineering consulting firm in California.

He met the love of his life, Kodi Caster at KU where she was also studying to be an aerospace engineer. From there, their careers carried them to Wichita, Kansas, to Redondo Beach, California, to Munich, Germany, and then to Stone Mountain, Georgia. They lived and travelled with their two dogs who also loved him dearly, Loki and Pilot.

Scott grew up with two brothers, Chris of Arlington, Virginia (wife Kelly, children Natalie, Charleigh and Will), and Travis of Wichita, Kansas (wife Janine). As brothers, they would get into trouble as boys do, but always remained close and would have a great time together.

Scott had a profound love of life and enjoyed everything he encountered, from sports, movies (particularly Disney animated movies, and of course his favorite, Harry Potter) to plants, photography, woodworking, and video games. He and Kodi would go on adventures wherever they lived and loved to travel together.

Scott was incredibly kind and generous to whomever needed help, even giving the shoes he was wearing to those in need. He inspired everyone who knew him to be a more loving and caring person.

Scott will be sorely missed by all those whose lives he touched.

Guestbook

  1. Kodi, and Cravens family, I’m so sorry for your loss. Scott was an incredible man, and we cannot imagine what you are feeling. Hopefully you will find guidance through this. Though it’s not much, please accept our condolences.

  2. CandleImageScott was an incredible guy, he was kind and generous, he was also very protective of everyone around him. We will miss him and will remember our memories with him and Kodi during our picnics together in Munich and our trip to NYC. May his soul rest in peace and we hope that Kodi will find guidance through this difficult time. Our deepest condolences and sympathy to Kodi and the Cravens family.

  3. I had the pleasure of working with Scott early in my engineering career. He was a very skillful engineer and a wonderful mentor. What I remember most is Scott’s kindness and patience. I learned a lot from him and am very saddened to hear of this loss.

  4. I didn’t know Scott for nearly long enough. I met him through work back in February. He was passionate about the work, and patient when catching me up on concepts. Watching his dynamic with the team, it was clear how they all cared for him. He will be sorely missed.

  5. CandleImageScott was a wonderful young man. We were privileged to get to know him though our daughter Kodi, and we were honored to have him as son-in-law. They were the perfect couple. With a zest for life reflected in everything they did, and totally devoted to each other. We never had to worry about Kodi when she with Scott We’re more than saddened Kodi will have to go on without him. We will deeply miss him..

  6. CandleImageSmart, kind, loving, and gentle. The very best son-in-law a person could wish for. We entrusted our daughter (Kodi) to him and never had a worry or concern. They were the perfect couple, a team moving through life with confidence, supporting each other, loving one another, enjoying life. He was a shining light and brightened our lives. We miss him dearly

  7. CandleImageScott was such a quiet, kind, caring soul. I had the pleasure of vacationing with him and Kodi the past few years in Hilton head. He was so sweet to my son playing with him, treating him like one of his nephews. Kodi my heart breaks for you he was truly one of the best.

  8. CandleImageScott and Kodi are very kind and generous neighbors. I have fond and funny memories of Scott helping us get the escaped sheep back into our temporary fence. Although he did not feel well , he and Kodi were right there to help us!! They helped us to rescue our now Ninja Dog who abandoned on our street . Kodi and Scott gave us food, dog beds, bowls and toys to help with the rescue. Scott (not well himself) helped my husband who has health challenges secure our fence , so our Ninja Dog would be secure and safe. We would talk over the wood fence sometimes with him barely able to peep above – I would call him Wilson ( old Home Improvement Show) He would laugh … we miss you Scott and miss getting to better know the wonderful guy you obviously are!
Keith and I send our love and prayers for comfort and peace to you Kodi at this most difficult time.

  9. CandleImageI got to know Scott through my sister Kodi. Scott was quiet but had an understated sense of humor always a small word or act to make us crack a smile. He loved going on walks and bringing back a stick or rock that he found interesting, much to the ire of Kodi when he wanted to haul it back home across multiple states. Scott and Kodi were devoted to one another and supported each other. They were the others rock. He was a beloved brother-in-law one that was full of kindness, love, and support. He will be sorely missed.

  10. CandleImageMy deepest condolences! I wish Kody and his whole family the energy they need and deserve to pass this hard times. We are all with you in your hearts!

  11. CandleImageI am deeply sorry for your loss, Kodi. I know Scott was an outstanding human and remember him playing with my firstborn when you guys came to visit after she was born in Overland Park, KS. He was one smart cookie. I know he is dearly missed.

  12. CandleImageKodi,
I am so so sorry. He left this earth way to soon…like your mother. Your mom and dad were so special to me. It was an honor to have you in sixth grade! God bless you and comfort you.
    (Mrs. Troyer) Joyce.

  13. Dearest Kodi and family,

Our thoughts are with the entire family at the time of your loss. Scott was a thorough gentleman and we have fond memories of our first meeting in December 2019 over a wonderful Greek meal. His friendship with Kodi and their partnership together was inspirational. His surprise entrance at Kodi’s farewell and presenting her with a gift on his knees is a touching and vivid memory. Our prayers are with the entire family at this difficult moment and express our deep gratitude for having had Scott as part of our lives.
