Thomas Edward Mcmurry

Thomas “Tom” Edward McMurry, 80, of Stone Mountain, passed peacefully Monday, December 17, 2018. Born in Butler Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Lloyd and Gertrude Dugan McMurry. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Beth McMurry and infant Fauna Lee McMurry. He graduated from Parks College in Saint Louis Missouri in 1959. Upon graduation he entered the United States Air Force where he served honorably for five years. He was a commercial pilot for Delta Airlines where he retired with 30 years of service. He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church for 40 years, served as an Eucharistic Minister at Corpus Christi Catholic Church for many years, he was also a dedicated volunteer for many years for the St. Vincent DePaul Society, and a present parishioner of St. Stephen the Martyr Catholic Church in Lilburn, Georgia. Surviving are wife, Kathryn Ann Miller McMurry; children, David McMurry of Auburn, Jenny (Thomas) Schmitt of Seattle Washington; brothers, James McMurry of Canoga Park California, Jack McMurry of Summertown Tennessee and Joseph (Paula) McMurry of Butler, PA; grandchildren, Ross McMurry, Lily and Henry Schmitt; also several nieces and nephews survive. A Catholic Mass will be held on Friday, December 21st at 10:30 at St. Stephen the Martyr Catholic Church in Lilburn. Visitation will be Thursday, December 20th, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Wages & Sons Funeral Home Stone Mountain Chapel. Interment will follow at Eternal Hills Memory Gardens in Snellville, Georgia.
