Vikramdev Pandya, born in Haldharvas, graduated with M.A. B.T, settled down in Vadodara and joined his children in the United States in 1995 after the passing of his wife. He graduated first batch from the Music College of Vadodara specializing in Sitar. He was a lifelong teacher, concentrating in languages such as Sanskrit and Gujarati at Rosary High School in Vadodara. He was instrumental in developing passion for culture and traditional values. He enjoyed playing hindustani classical music and reading spiritual scriptures. He will be remembered fondly among his family members and has left a legacy for generations to come.

    My memories of Vikramkaka (Pandya-sir) go back almost 50 years since he was our teacher at Rosary school. He was one of the most respected and loved teacher. He had great life and had positive impact on so many people. I was fortunate to contiue our relationship even after the school days. When I met him 2 years ago, he was physically weak but had maintained his unique sense of humor. We remembered his early years with child like enthusiasm.
    I know he was proud of all his children and I have seen you guys take care of him so well.
    I will join the virtual funeral on Wednesday.

  18. Dear Archit and Dhaivat,

    Please accept our sincerest condolences. Aarat and me studied under him and have fond memories of him. I not only remember him as my respected teacher but also as father of a very dear friend.

    Apart from his love for students he was a very passionate about culture and values and always held them very high.

    I could still hear him sing શાર્દુલ વિક્રીડિત છંદ while teaching Gujarati… possibly that was his favorite. He would be in top of his mood when this was to be taught in the class.

    Love for teaching and love for language is not found so much these days.

    I had a regret that i could not meet him when I visited Archit’s home few years ago and that would now ever remain…

  19. CandleImageI was his student at Rosary School ,Vadodara, India. My most vivid memories of him was that he was a very kind teacher. We used to fondly address him as Tabla Pandya sir, because he used to play the tabla or any musical instrument during all annual school functions.

    So sorry for the sad news that Pujya Mama is no more with us.
    His life journey was exemplary as a devoted educator and astute scholar.

    While on first visit to the USA over 25 years back, we were fortunate to welcome Pujya Mama and Mami to welcome at our home. Thereafter, in his frequent USA visits and then on his longer stay – we had met time to time. Meeting with him was inspirational, and also seeing him deeply engrossed in instilling the Indian culture and fondness to spiritual values to all near him, especially his grandchildren.
    Indeed, Ashok’s memory comes afresh, since it was he and Pragya that brought me in pujya Nama’s grace.
    Pujya mama will be missed and we share in your loss.
    Ira, I and my children join you and your family for the Prayers in his fond memory.
