Alistair Martin Frederick Anthony Fernandes passed on February 26, 2018. He was born on February 5, 1968 in Karachi, Pakistan. Alistair earned his A Levels in 1986 from Karachi Grammar School. In 1987 he moved to Atlanta, Georgia to attend Georgia State University. He graduated in 1993 with a BBA in Risk Management and Insurance. While at GSU, Alistair met the love of his life, Helen. They married in 1994 and had two children, Tristan and Rachel. Alistair could always be counted on to talk about Helen and the children to everyone.
Alistair lived life to the fullest and was a compassionate, loyal friend. He loved the outdoors (camping, hunting, fishing). He joined the Single Action Shooting Society and was known as the Suwanee Swampdog. Alistair was an avid aviation fan and he frequently visited air shows and aviation museums. He took great joy in sharing his passions with his children and friends, as well as the Boy Scouts. Alistair was an amateur photographer and documented many of his travels, often with his beloved canine companion, Thunder, at his side.
Alistair proudly became a United States Citizen in 2004.
Alistair is preceded in death by his father Derek Fernandes (Karachi, Pakistan). He is survived by his wife of 24 years Helen, son Tristan, daughter Rachel, mother Joan (nee DeSousa), brother Arnold/Carol (Renae), brother Ashley/Arlene (Aiken, Aiden), and a large loving extended family.
The family will receive visitors on Thursday, March 22, from 5-8 PM. Wages & Sons Gwinnett Chapel, 1031 Lawrenceville HWY, Lawrenceville, GA 30046. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, March 23, 10:00 AM at the Cathedral of Christ the King, 2699 Peachtree RD, Atlanta, GA 30305.
