Alonzo “Lonnie” Morris Peak, age 92 of Stone Mountain, Georgia, passed away on September 2, 2022.
Lonnie was born on November 27, 1929, in Pittsylvania County, VA. He was a son of the late Irvin Linwood Peak and Annie Edwards Peak. From 1951 to 1953 he was a Corporal in the US Armed forces where he served in the Korean War driving the ammo truck, and men, to the front line. For 30+ years following his service, he drove all over the country for Roadway. Lonnie was a devoted member and friend to the congregation of Memorial Lighthouse Baptist Church in St Mtn.
In addition to his beloved wife Kate Hamlett Peak of 53 years, he was preceded in death by brothers, Baxter Peak (Linda) and Owen Peak (Lucy), and sisters Vernon Hughes (Berman) and infant Marie Peak.
He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Eaves (Scott) of Rutledge, GA and son Roger Peak (Debbie) of Lawrenceville, GA; two sisters, Elizabeth Worley and Eula Jacobs of Gretna, VA; four grandchildren, Allen Eaves (Kevin) of Athens, GA, Travis Eaves (Alecia) of Loganville, GA, Wesley Murray (Violet) of Wilmington, NC and Emily Cloer (Jason) of St. Augustine, FL; three great grandchildren, Wesley, Logan and Lane.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, September 10, 2022 at Eternal Hills Memory Garden in Snellville by David Mann.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests going fishing, planting a vegetable garden or eating an extra helping of dessert to remember Lonnie by celebrating some of his favorite things.
