Alphonzia Carter

Alphonzia (Al) “Dickie” Carter Jr, age 75, of Columbus, OH passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 15th in Lawrenceville, GA. Al was born in Columbus, OH on October 5, 1943 to Alphonzia and Venice (McDougle) Carter. He graduated from East High School and attended Columbus State Community College. Al had a passion for automobiles, photography, Betty Boop and hilarious T-shirts . Al was a beloved member of St. Paul AME Church and lifelong Columbus resident until 2015 when he retired to Georgia. Al is survived by his wife of 52 years, Shirley, son Greg (Tausha) Carter, daughter Kim (Greg II) Bates, grandchildren Jordan, David and Greg III, siblings Vera (Wendell) Glasper, Raynard Carter, John (Vantossa) Carter and Shirley (Willie) Hawkins and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Alphonzia and Venice, brother Gregory and sister Edith Faye. Remembrance services will be held on November 30, 2018 from 5:30-8 PM at Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church, 3161 East Fifth Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43219. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association, COPD Foundation or National Kidney Foundation in memory of Alphonzia Carter.
