Alvita Marie Larimer

Stone Mountain, Georgia - Alvita Larimer (Carriker), 92, with her daughter, Diane Dunham (Gary), by her side, peacefully passed March 5, 2017, at Cobblestone at Park Springs. She is now united with her Lord; her beloved husband, George; her son, Tommy; and many loved ones. Daughter of Melbourne Carriker Jr., and Myrtle Carmelita (Flye) Carriker, Alvita was born in Santa Marta, Colombia, South America, where her family owned a coffee plantation. The youngest of five children, and the last surviving sibling, Alvita returned to the US at age three and spent her adulthood in Wilmington, Delaware. In early retirement, Alvita and George sailed the east coast from Maine to the Bahamas and to Bermuda. Later, they moved to The Landings in Savannah. There for 28 years, Alvita took golf lessons and became an avid golfer; blessed with a beautiful singing voice, she also enjoyed landscaping, gardening, reading, and sharing her beautiful smile. A heartfelt thank you is sent to Park Springs Home Health aides - Paulina, Neverylyn, and Melodie. Your loving presence the last few years allowed mom to stay in her villa. The family also thanks Doctor White and the staff at Cobblestone at Park Springs. Your compassion during her last few days will never be forgotten. Alvita and George now will continue their journey at sea. Their ashes will be scattered in the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of Florida.
