Anamaria "Ana" Luisa Kerfoot

Ana was born Anamaria Luisa Brown in Tampa, Florida. She attended and graduated from Plant High School. Afterwards, she attended and graduated from the University of South Florida, College of Education, with her BA and certification in elementary education.

Ana started competitive dance roller skating in her youth. Her skills rapidly advanced with wins in many competitions throughout the Southeast and Midwest United States. In competitive pairs dance, Ana earned the highest US award, the Gold Medal. She was a certified judge and judged many competitions. She also earned numerous awards on the path toward her international Gold Medal certification.

After meeting her husband, Roy, and moving to the Atlanta area, Ana deeply involved herself in church activities. She delighted in Women’s Bible Study Fellowship, relishing the Bible studies and the relationships with the women with who she studied. She also served on the Baptismal Committee of the First Baptist Church in Tucker, Georgia.

As Richard and Katherine joined sports teams, Ana stepped in to help as team mom. When the Girl Scout troop leader stepped down, Ana stepped up to lead the troop. She completed the wide-ranging leadership training necessary for and enabling her to take the troop on camping and other outings.

Though Ana enjoyed education, her career led her to non-teaching positions with Scott Traffic Consultants, the University of South Florida, Data General, and the Greater Atlanta Christian School. Yet, Ana found ways to teach. She taught preschool-aged Sunday School classes, periodically moving from one age group to another, which kept her fresh. She home schooled her children for three years before placing them in Greater Atlanta Christian School. Primary Progressive Aphasia, a rare dementia first affecting language, forced Ana into early retirement.

Ana was preceded in death by her parents, Harold C. Brown and Margarita Real Brown.

Survivors include her husband, Roy; their twin children, Richard (Sonji) and Katherine; her brother, Henry (Dianna) Brown; nephews Dallas (Hillary) Brennan, Darby (Suzanne) Brennan, and Richard (Kelly) Brown; and niece Kimberly (Gordon) Lavender.

Visitation will be at 11:30AM to 1:30PM at the Wages & Sons Funeral Home in Lawrenceville. A Celebration of Life will be held 1:30PM at the Wages & Sons Funeral Home in Lawrenceville. For the protection of everyone attending and fragile ones in our homes, the family asks that everyone wear masks at the visitation and Celebration of Life.

Burial will follow at the Eternal Hills Memory Gardens in Snellville.
