Anita A. King

Anita King was born in Garvin County at Wynnewood Oklahoma; on December 23, 1930, to Elmer and Zepha Ashley, parents. She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years John Robert King; two sisters, Loreta Gooch, Mustang, OK.; and Bonnilee Ashley, Clifton, CO; one brother, Waymon Ashley, of Fort Worth, TX., predeceased her. She is also survived by three sisters-in-laws: Stella Ashley, Fort Worth, TX; Lucille Chapman Dan, Peachtree City, Ga.; and Geraldine Satterfield Arnold, Canton, GA. Anita graduated from Wynnewood High School in 1949, attended Ardmore Business College, Ardmore, OK.; and Oklahoma Baptist University, Shawnee, OK. Her first employment was at Oklahoma State Welfare Department, Oklahoma City. She later worked for the State Home Economics Department, Trojan Construction Company, and the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma, all in Oklahoma City. She entered Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX in September 1956, graduating in January 1959. After graduating, she served as Minister of Education for the Urban Park Baptist Church in Dallas, TX. In January 1960, she married John R. King of Atlanta, GA. She was employed by the Southern Baptist Home Mission Board where she worked 33 years, retiring in May 1993. They have made their home in Decatur, GA all these years. Anita has been active in several Baptist churches: Candler Park; First, Avondale Estates; Bouldercrest; Fortified Hills, Smyrna; First, Redan; and Clairmont Hills, Decatur, where she was a Sunday School teacher and WMU Director. Flowers will be accepted or give to Clairmont Hills Baptist Church, 1995 Clairmont Road Decatur, Ga 30033 for Annie Armstrong Easter Offering for North American Missions or Lottie.
