Ann Ward Frentress Mench Ann Ward Frentress Mench, age 82, passed away peacefully on June, 11, 2018. Ann, daughter of Oscar and Geraldine Ward, was born on July 30, 1935 in Dexter, Georgia and grew up nearby on the Ward family farm. After graduating from Dexter High School, Ann moved to Atlanta to attend the Atlanta Business College for Women. Her career in customer service and sales with Southern Bell/AT&T spanned 30 years. Ann married Zane Frentress and raised their two children in Atlanta, Greenville, SC, and the Smoke Rise community of Stone Mountain, Georgia where she resided until her passing. She had been an active member of Smoke Rise Baptist Church since 1979. Ann was an avid tennis player and enjoyed gardening, walking, reading, needlework, puzzles, and most of all, traveling. Her early travels with the Smoke Rise Baptist Church group took her to Canada, Europe, Scandinavia, the Mediterranean, Russia, Australia, and New Zealand. Ann met her second husband, John Mench, in Spain. The two continued to travel throughout their twenty-year marriage. Ann’s family includes her sister, Joyce Mullis and family, her brother, Roy Ward and family, her husband, John Mench, her daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Daniel Murray, her son and daughter-in-law, Brian Frentress and Trina Jang, her stepson and daughter-in-law, William and April Mench, and her grandchildren - Ben Murray and his wife, Stevie Hamlin, Sean Murray, Stella Frentress, Mackaylee Mench and Madeline Mench. A memorial service for Ann will be held at Smoke Rise Baptist Church, Stone Mountain, Georgia, on Friday, June 15th, at 10:00 a.m., and an interment service will take place at 3:30 p.m. later that afternoon at Dublin Memorial Gardens, Dublin, Georgia. Visitation for family and friends will be Thursday evening, June 14th, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Wages and Sons Funeral Home in Stone Mountain. In lieu of flowers, Ann’s family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or Smoke Rise Baptist Church.
