Anne M. Rhodes

Anne Marcelle Rhodes, born on October 20, 1946, in Atlanta, GA, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2024, in Lawrenceville, GA, just days shy of her 78th birthday. A beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Anne’s life was defined by her unwavering faith, her deep love for family, and her joy in serving others.

A devoted member of Yellow River Baptist Church, Anne’s steadfast love for the Lord touched everyone she met. She led the Ladies Fellowship Group, always seeking to uplift others through her testimony. Despite her battle with ovarian cancer, Anne’s enduring prayer was that her life experiences would guide others to Christ.

Anne enjoyed traveling, shopping, and, most importantly, spending quality time with her family. Known affectionately as “Gigi,” she cherished every moment with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whether gathered in the living room watching Jeopardy or enjoying the sun on a cruise ship’s pool deck. Her infectious smile and encouraging spirit brought warmth to every gathering.

She is preceded in death by her father, James Pinkney Alexander; her mother; Ruby Marie Trimble Alexander and her loving husband, Joe Edward Rhodes. Anne is survived by her children, Laura Jones (Stephen), Michele Sawyer (Leighton), and Jimmy Masak (Rebecca); her stepson, Monty Rhodes; grandchildren Austin & Allie Davis, Aaron & Raney Jones, Caitlyn Sawyer, Charles Sawyer, Phillip Sawyer, and Kyle Masak; and great-grandchildren Noah Davis, Grayson Davis, and Theo Jones.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Georgia Ovarian Cancer Alliance, 6065 Roswell Road N.E. #512, Sandy Springs, GA 30328.

Friends and family are invited to gather from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at Yellow River Baptist Church, with a Celebration of Life service to follow.
