Arthur Lowing

December 2, 1933 — November 24, 2011

Arthur Richard "Dick" Lowing, age 77, of Dacula, Georgia passed away on November 24, 2011 after a long battle with lung disease. He received his Civil Engineering Degree from Purdue University, where he was President of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity. His career was in Structural Engineering with his final position as Senior Vice President of Sanders & Thomas in PA. He designed multiple rapid transit stations through out the country. Dick managed his team on several projects earning national awards including a project at Fort Drum. He was appointed to Gwinnett County Merit Board, served as treasurer on several political campaigns and his neighborhood HOA. Dick's main passion was his family and golf. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. & Mrs. James A. Lowing of Western Springs, IL and his sister, Carol Spitler of Elmhurst, IL. His survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Carol Lowing; daughters, Debbie & her husband, Mark Lockwood; Kathy and her husband, Tom McLaughlin and Patti Baker; grandchildren, Michelle & Doug Spears; Amy & Matt Sewell, Brian Lockwood, Jenny, Melissa & Brad Baker; great grandchildren, Mia & Ansley Sewell. A Service of Rememberance will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at 2 o'clock at Wages & Sons. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Lung Association, 2452 Spring Road, Smyrna, GA 30080. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 12 o'clock until 2 o'clock at Wages & Sons Gwinnett Chapel, 1031 Lawrenceville Highway, Lawrenceville, 770-277-4550.
